9th– 17th June ’18 Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Week 2
Fr Prem’s Message: The parish is blessed this Sunday as we celebrate the Sacrament of First Holy Communion for
our children this afternoon at 3.30 pm. A very big thank you to our parish catechists, and all those helped in many ways
in the parish to make their preparation and their mass today very special. Thank you to our sacristans, musicians and
choir, to the altar servers, those clean and tidied the church, and those decorated with flowers. I am sure the teachers of
the school too have done their bit towards this day fulfilling their responsibility entrusted to them as a Catholic school,
and can rightly feel satisfied. Parents too can be proud that they have fulfilled their role as responsible parents in handing
down and bringing up their children in the faith. I am sure the school and the parents, particularly those not of the par-
ish, will be grateful to the parish, as the parish has taken on itself single handed their preparation and resourcing it.
What is handed down to our Children today is the precious faith, very much unique to the very early, if not earli-
est church - the catholic church. The precious Body & Blood of Christ really and truly present in the Holy Eucharist. It
is not our human flesh and blood, but the flesh and blood of the glorified risen lord - the risen, transformed, glorified hu-
man body & blood of Christ. Not all held on to this faith, many left even when Jesus himself said this as the Gospels
record. Only a few, definitely with the twelve apostles believed it. So it is today, this faith is handed down, more with our
own faithful life example than anything else; our valuing the Holy Mass, particularly on Sunday, and our love and devo-
tion to the Holy Eucharist, praying before it, preparing for a worthy reception and prayerfully receiving it, showing rever-
ence to the Holy Eucharist in the tabernacle before and after mass, and whenever in the church, and surely not shy-
ing or hesitating to talk to our children as the living body & blood of the risen Christ.
PRAYER TO THE HOLY TRINITY FOR THE PREPARATION OF MASS Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, come to us and renew us as we gather to celebrate this Sunday Mass. As we continue our pilgrimage of life, help us
to become better Christians on earth so that we may rejoice with you for ever in Heaven. To the Holy Trinity be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Year for Priests Sacred Heart of Jesus 2018 –2019
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our priests; all colour & race, of the Archdiocese
of Birmingham under your protection. Protect them from all threats, harm and violence.
Strengthen them when they are publicly per-secuted, ridiculed, insulted, looked down and
at times threatened with violence. When there is no defence at all even from the very
church they serve, keep them still strong, and let their hearts burn with a Martyrs zeal.
