Transcript of The Parade

The ParadeWork in progress by Janet Van Fleet

The Parade is being produced during 2013. The intention is to create a group of over 100 figures of humans and animals, in a parade of

figures that represent the march of living things through their lives on the planet, with solitary as well as interacting figures.

The figures range from 10 – 24” high, and are made from found wood, metal, and other recycled materials.

Sometimes the figures are making statements. Here

some People (whose heads are figures and whose arms are forks and

spoons) have a very different

perspective from the three Animals

in the center.

The backs of the figures in the previous slide.

Some of the people in the

Parade may be rooted in a past that is no longer

supported.

But there are

Dancers

And figures with antique

glass chest x-rays, plaster

bandage, linen

wrapping, with blinking

LED heartbeats

Many more will join the parade as it passes through

town.
