Take-home Messages

• Clinical Trials are an excellent way to answer important public health questions

• They require rigorous design, conduct, and analysis

• They require oversight for safety and confidentiality

• A strong code of ethics is essential

Take-home Messages

• Clinical Trials need to have adequate power to demonstrate a clinically important difference. Non-significant results are inconclusive (rarely if ever showing no difference).

• Sequential monitoring is important for many trials.
