ALETTERfromJaymeeandSamHello,Wethoughtofdifferentwayshowtodothis.Notthepoetrycompilationitself,butthisforeword;forustoshowgratitudetoeveryonewhohaseverignitedathoughtorfeelinginsideus.Buthavingtheterribletraitofindecisionandperfectionism,wecouldn’tagreeonwhattoactuallywrite.Aswewritethis,wedon’treallyknowifwe’regoingtouseitforthispage,butifwedo,wethinkitnicetoinformyoutheimportanceofappreciatingeverypoemthatispresentedtoyou.“Why?”youmayask.Well,ifyou’veeverthoughtyouwereanygoodatsinging,andrecordedyourself,thendecidedtonevertalkoreventhinkaboutit(ever),writingpoemsislikethat,too.Somepieces,wedecidetoabandon,andsomethoughts,wesubconsciouslyhideawaysomewhereinthebrain.Somepoems,wedecidetocontinuebutkeeptoourselves.It’slikeourownrecordofgrowth,kindoflikehowmotherstakehandprintsandfootprintsoftheirchildrenastheygrow.Fromtheoriginalformtoitsfinalone,uncountablerevisionsandmodificationcouldhaveoccurred,likeanyformofart.Wewanttothankeveryonewhohadthecouragetoshowalittlebitoftheirvulnerability(somemightsayit’sthemanifestationofit).Andthankyoutoeveryonewhobecametheinspirationforsomeofthepoems,andtothosewhosupportedourimpulsiveideaofpublication.Lastly,toMrAustin—weknowyouropiniononrepetitive“thankyou”sbeingthrownatyou,butwewantedyoutoknowhowgratefulweareforyourenthusiasm,funnycommentsandinsight.Wewillmissyougreatly,andthankyoufortheweeklydoseofpoetry.
