Welcome from the CampUS Director

Dear Students,

Greetings from the King’s Academy family, located in the beautiful

mountains of east Tennessee. My name is Ryan Moulden; I am the CampUS

Director and ESL teacher here at the King’s Academy. I made the King’s

Academy my home four years ago when I started teaching here in 2011.

Prior to this, I was an ESL teacher in Zhengzhou, China for six years. I really

enjoyed teaching and living in China. My time there helped me gain a better

understanding and appreciation of learning a second language. In fact, while I was there I learned

how to speak Chinese!

It is my privilege to introduce CampUS—a four-week orientation program developed just for you!

Participating in CampUS will give you a huge advantage at the start of the school year. You will

develop important life-long relationships, more quickly settle into your new home and have a

smoother transition into the new school year. In summary, attending CampUS will help you to be

well-prepared when you begin class in August!

CampUS staff and I are eager to meet you this summer. We are planning to have a great time

helping you and your new classmates prepare for life at The King’s Academy. If you have

questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (rmoulden@thekingsacademy.net).

Sincerely,

Ryan Moulden

What is CampUS?

CampUS is an orientation program for new English Second Language students from all over the world who have enrolled at The King’s Academy for the fall semester. When students arrive at the Academy they soon realize that life is more about ‘us’ and not just about ‘me.’ During CampUS students learn how to live, cooperate and succeed in a new community. Students will also be given opportunities to learn about Christianity. These goals will be accomplished by following the four “I will” statements of CampUS.

The Four “I Will” Statements of CampUS

I will study English in a safe environment.

I will prepare myself to live as a world citizen at The King’s Academy.

I will explore other cultures to better myself and others that I meet.

I will discover my identity in Christ.

What to Expect

The atmosphere will be warm, friendly and fun. Students will enjoy working

alongside CampUS staff who will help them to get familiar with The King’s Acad-
