The Geena Davis Institute on Gender• Founded in 2007• Inspired by the lack of female characters in her children’s TV

shows• Non-profit, research based• Collaboration with USC Annenberg School for Communication

and Journalism• Found that for every 1 female, there are 3 males in media

• Results from research• Astonishing evidence of gender inequality stereotyping in media• Have been relied upon to promote women’s and girls’

empowerment in companies and organizations
