My Grandad died on the29th February 2008.

I visited his house for the last time on the day the decorators were

re-painting, pulling up the carpets and stripping layers of wallpaper.

Faded and worn patches were revealed, evidence of forty years of

various room layouts.

The only item of furniture left on the day was his chair.
