Nearly 800 guests packed San Antonio's Grand Hyatt Hotel for the University of theIncarnate Word's Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show.

The annual event, produced entirely by students, featured garments illustrated, designed andconstructed by UIW students. Incarnate Word senior Andrea Sepulveda won Best of Showand Best Design for her "Looking through the Looking Glass" collection. Sepulveda'scollection of bold and unique statement coats was inspired by the curved lines of modernsculpture and created with a mix of silk and wool fabrics hand dyed and detailed with metallicand opaque paints. The Best of Show is determined by the garment scored highest by apanel of judges. Best Construction was won by Melissa Castelo for her "Road Less Travelled"collection and Kadie Plummer won Honorable Mention for her collection titled "ChandelierTiers." Winners received specially designed awards courtesy of Tiffany & Co as well as aprofessional photo shoot of their designs by San Antonio Headshots - Mark HumphriesPhotography.

This year's show also featured garments from UIW's sister school Tainan University ofTechnology in Taiwan. UIW has had a working relationship with Tainan University since1988. The university offers two year, four year and graduate programs in fashion managementand design.

The Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show is an official Fiesta® Event and was attended by MissFiesta San Antonio Lauren Holt and her court Crystal Diaz and Samantha Vasquez and theQueen of Soul Chelsea Richardson. Guests were also treated to a surprise guest appearanceby El Rey Feo Bill Drain.

All proceeds from the show fund scholarships for UIW's fashion management students. Thisyear, two students received $1,500 scholarships thanks to the generosity of our sponsors andsupporters of the annual Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show.
