The Culture, Science, and Technology Program

CSTA World of Opportunities

CST Orientation Fall 2012

• Why are you here?• Where can you go?• How can you get

there?

“What is CST?” “I thought I was in Nursing!”

The CST curriculum was designed for students interested in careers in Health Care, Science and Technology.

The curriculum is rich in Science, the Humanities and Math. It allows the concentration in either Health Careers or Science and Technology.

Most programs in Health Care and Science are “select programs.” This means that a student must formally apply to the program. Before application, the student must successfully complete certain courses and achieve a specified grade point average.

The CST curriculum was designed to allow students to prepare for application to select programs or transfer. Students can take required courses and establish a GPA while enrolled in the CST Program.

It is important for a student interested in a career in health care or science to establish a strong academic record. Programs in these fields are very competitive. Students are chosen based upon their academic performance. In general, students with strong grades, especially in Science courses, are chosen for these programs. You should strive to earn A’s and B’s in your courses.

Community College of Philadelphia has many resources to help you succeed. Visit the Learning Lab to arrange tutoring for difficult courses. Make an appointment with an Academic Advisor before registering for your classes to plan a schedule that allows you to perform to your potential. Visit the Counseling Center for help with managing your life as a college student.
