Vocabulary

A republic is a form of government in which people elect representatives to govern the country.

Republic

Inflation occurs when the value of a government’s money falls because there is too much of it.

An arsenal is a building that is used for storing weapons.

A territory is land that belongs to a national government but is not a state and is not represented in Congress.

In 1785 Congress passed a land ordinance ,or set of laws, that created a system to survey, or measure, the western lands.

In 1786 some leaders called on the states to hold a convention, or an important meeting, to discuss trade among the states.
