This book is intended to ensue the belief that the referred to ‘Reg’ is a real life person. The reader excepts the story and false emotion is given. The truth is Reg is a bicycle anthropomorphised as a real person: a friend. The bicycle changed ownership in early 2011, prior to this had live unused in a garden shed for a reported 8 years. This is signified by the darkness. Since then has been looked after and treated with new parts, to aid the revive of an old machine. The reference to poetry is a metaphorical literary device that describes the poetic feeling one feels when on a cycling journey.

I am writing about a dear companion; Reg. Something happened that left him for years in a

All Reg saw was darkness, waiting for his life to continue, a life that was taken from him by a single foolish act.

Time passed and many old friends forgot about Reg. He lay dormant without the love and attention that was once given.

Oneday, after eight years of darkness, daylight began to shine upon his tender frame.

A new friend greeted him and saw in him what once had made him great.

The transition from a hibernating state to one of new uninhibited motion was a sign of new beginnings. A familiar intense feeling of a journey had begun.

Anonymous scars from a former life lay upon his delicate skin, soothed by the ever increasing revitalising breeze.

Reg’s new friend was I, me and Reg we travelled, we travelled in the pursuit of fulfilment, where ever it might take us.

I don’t know now what I would do without Reg.

Reg is my friend, Reg is my bicycle.
