10.0 NSSC GRADE 12 – VOCATIONAL DUAL QUALIFICATIONS
Realizing the seriousness of most individuals whose education standards remained behind because they could at one time not obtain the tertiary institution‟s required entry points, CTPD, upon critical evaluations of both, the NSSC and Vocational Qualifications Curriculums, created a Dual Course Program that now gives opportunity to learners wanting to upgrade symbols (points) and NSSC level to also sit for and pass examinations in related internationally recognized vocational qualifications which will further give them chances to take up employment, enter into certain higher institutions that recognize such qualifications or create their own businesses.
There are no any additional tuition fees but learners will have to pay examinations fees to both examining bodies (NSSC and LCCI/City & Guilds). With such Vocational Qualifications, learners entering higher institutions of learning will obviously perform far favorably as compared to those entering such institutions directly from schools.
Vocational Qualifications are qualifications that will help you prove not only your academic
ability but also your skills and competencies too! They really do show a potential employer just what you are capable of.
Vocational Qualifications are work related or based awards or certifications that are achieved through training and assessment. To achieve a Vocational Qualification, candidates must prove that they have the ability (competence) to carry out their job to the required standard.
They are based on Occupational Standards that describe the 'competencies' expected in any given job role. Typically, candidates will work towards an NVQ that reflects their role in a paid or voluntary position. For example someone working or intending to in an admin office role may take a Vocational Qualification in Business and Administration.
CTPD offers Vocational Courses that are examined by the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) through the Educational Development International (EDI) and the City of Guilds International. 11.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND CANCELLATION PROCEDURES 10.1 Introduction
For entry into secondary education programmes, proof must be provided that the learner has passed the same or similar subject at a lower grade or standard in order to be able to enrol for
the specific subject(s). The National Examinations, Assessment and Certification Board (NEACB) of Namibia, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) have laid down requirements for registration to sit for Grade 12 (NSSCO & H levels) examinations. Accordingly, courses offered by the College are subject to admission requirements as set out by the NEACB. According to the NEACB guidelines, NSSCO or NSSCH (Grade 12) first-time
takers are not allowed to enroll with CTPD for more than three subjects. Re-sit NSSCO or NSSCH learners are permitted to enrol for more than three NSSCO subjects per year. If learners need to add or change the information provided on the enrolment forms after registration, a „Change of Records‟ form will have to be completed. Such a learner must present proof of registration with the centre and ID card at the time of completing the change of details form. 10.2 Documents required for enrolment Proof of identity (Namibian ID card OR passport, Driver‟s licence, birth certificate); ORIGINAL certificate of your highest educational qualification or ORIGINAL statement of
results for the most recent examination you sat (certified copies of the above documents are NOT acceptable);
Proof of Payment deposit or arrangements of subject fees; Study Permit for all foreign nationals; Tow passport-size photos; 10.3 Cancellation Procedures Cancellation of course(s)/subject (s) shall mean when a student cancels a subject and
requests a refund or when he/she cancels a subject and changes to another subject. Student should in the first place ensure that they select the right subject (s) before enrolling. Any change or cancellation of a subject will result in a deduction of 20% administration fee from the subject fees.
Friday of the first class week shall be the final cut-off date for any cancellation and change of subjects.
Should the student change to a new subject, he/she will have to pay the full subject fee. All refunds for cancelled or changed subjects will be made through our Windhoek office. A

waiting period of two to three months after the enrolment period can be expected before the refund can be approved by the Studies Management Advisory Committee.
12.0 EXAMINATIONS The NSSCO and NSSCH Examinations take place in October/November every year. The National Examinations, Assessment and Certification Board of Namibia lay down the requirements for registration to sit for the NSSCO and NSSCH examinations. Such requirements change from time to time. Hence learners are advised to constantly check the centre‟s notices boards or consult the DNEA booklet on examinations. More information can also be obtained from the centre‟s CPS Executive or the Examinations Officers at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education. Examinations are the responsibility of DNEA and not CTPD as stipulated in the to the DNEA booklet on examination information. However, the following important points have been reproduced for students‟ guidance:
Examination registration for Grade 12 NSSCO and NSSCH usually takes place between February and April each year. (Registration after the specified period calls for a late registration fee).
Learners must register and pay for the examination at their nearest examination centres.
After paying the fees, learners should complete the examination registration form and hand in the form to the Head of the Examination Centre.
Learners should take their identity documents such as ID card, passport, birth certificate with photograph, Drivers licence or certified copies of any of these for registration.
It is vital that learners fill in the form completely and accurately. They are responsible for the correctness of their personal and subject entry details.
When registering for each subject, it is important that learners use the correct subject codes or option codes in the spaces provided on the form.
Learners should collect their examination admission permits at the examination centre where they registered for examinations, usually at the beginning of September.
All NSSC language first-time takers are required to do Oral Assessment early in September. However, re-sit candidates may transfer the marks from the previous year (2009).
Learners must sit for all examination papers, otherwise they will obtain an incomplete result.
