Transcript of The Bradford Legacy - Asylum Week 4

It’s me again, back with the final (!!!) installment of the my asylum challenge. As you know from the last

update, Melanie was finally able to get a job in the criminal career, and is busy working towards her LTW to

become a Criminal Mastermind. The rest of the inmates are in various states of distress.

Will Melanie be able to achieve her goal before things get worse? Read on to find out.

Things certainly aren’t all that great when we first arrive. We’ve got all kinds of Worry Hands and Crying

Hands.

Melanie’s working diligently to get promoted as fast as possible. Her skills and friendships are where they

need to be for the top of the career, so I’m making sure she goes to work in platinum aspiration so the work

meter is full. So far, it’s worked.

While Melanie’s away at work, the inmates get up to all kinds of things. I’m surprised I haven’t seen more

of this, or primping, to be perfectly honest. Most of my Sims are pretty neat. I’d think they’d want the little

hygiene boosts.

And they’re getting more and more comfortable with each other. I’ll admit to leaving the toilet clogged so

they’d get more cleaning skills points from mopping.

The consequence to this is that they complain that the room is dirty whenever they walk into the toilet

room. Too bad. Clean it up if you don’t like it.

More crying and Worry Hands, and Jan can’t decide what’s worse: being hungry or being on the verge of

aspiration desperation.

Oh, and the Professor’s still looking for handouts. So far, no one’s offered him any spare change.

And Muriel’s busted out Mr. Lampshade again.

In fact, they were both acting out at the same time. Lovely. And that’s not sarcasm – I really am thrilled

that they’re not doing well.

Jan’s still hooked on the dance sphere. It’s a good thing, because it keeps Muriel out of it, and she won’t

lose aspiration points when she gets booted.

More worried Sims. Such a lovely sight.

As you can see, Matthew’s gone and broken the TV again. I’ve decided I’m not going to fix it, as he keeps

getting aspiration boosts from watching movies. You should be worried, Matthew. I want you to get a visit

from the therapist.

Melanie’s a superstar, coming home with promotions after every shift. I don’t remember what level she’s at

here, but it’s getting up there.

She looked at the Professor as she walked to the carpool I think she wants to get out of there as much as I

want her to.

Rather than having Melanie skill, I’m having her meditate to keep her platinum mood. She gets home from

work, maybe fills a small Want for a quick boost, takes care of her needs, cooks some high-end food, and

then we go all ommmmmm.

She’s only 1 or 2 promotions away at this point, and I’m not taking any chances.

While she’s meditating, the rest of them are up to no good. I’m sure that Muriel and Matthew are gossiping

about whether or not Melanie will actually get her LTW.

Nicole is showing her true colors, and fighting with just about everyone, but most especially with her

daughter and son-in-law.

But Timothy’s been a grouch lately too. He gets all growly whenever one of his needs is slightly out of the

green (I’m assuming because his portrait was a decent shade of green at this point).

With so many mean Sims, the simplest of games can cause big problems.

Like when Rebecca decides to really punch Muriel during a game of “You Punch Me.”

Muriel was not too happy about it.

Rebecca didn’t like what Muriel had to say to her, and she dragged the Professor away from the

synthesizer to complain about it. As you can see, he really didn’t want to hear it.

While Muriel commiserated with Nicole instead.

And then all of a sudden, I heard the noise the game makes when a Sim goes platinum. It wasn’t Melanie, as

I could see her pretty plumb bob was already that color. So I look at the portraits, and lo and behold what do I

see?

It’s Jan. She’s gone platinum. As she’s a Knowledge Sim, I was guessing it had to do with her maxing a skill

point. But which one did she max?

It’s body! All that time in the dance sphere paid off. Jan becomes the first inmate to max a skill!

She’ll be good for a while now. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but good for you Jan. I’m proud of you.

Not everyone is quite as lucky as Jan though. The Professor is still panhandling.

Matthew’s giving me all kinds of Worry Hands…

…when he’s not staring at the broken TV that is.

Nicole’s moaning about the fact that she’s hungry.

But despite the platter of food on the counter (see the steam?), she’d rather play fetch with wolf Abbey than

go eat.

Even though everyone else was good and took a share (and there was still plenty left over).

Instead of eating, she went to bed. Of course, she work up shortly there after complaining that she was

hungry.

After she woke up, she relieved her bladder instead of food.

At this point, the platter was empty and Melanie needed to catch the carpool to go to work for her final (!!!)

promotion. Nicole was not going to make it until Melanie got home, and she’d proved too stupid to take

care of herself. There was only one thing to do.

I had Melanie order a pizza on her way out the door, knowing that someone would accept it. It doesn’t say

in the rules that I can’t order a pizza, so I think it’s asylum legal. Either way, Nicole happily grabbed a slice.

And another. The rest of the inmates seemed to like it too.

That night was one of the craziest at the asylum. Two strays got in a fight on the front lawn.

The Professor was still looking for a handout.

Muriel came up with one of the bizarrest sounding compositions on the synthesizer that I’ve ever heard.

Though it didn’t stop her from busting out Mr. Lampshade in the morning before Melanie got home.

And Matthew complained…

…and cried…

…and worried.

Just before 8 AM on the fourth Thursday, I heard the snazzy “going platinum” sound, and Miss Jan had a

shiny platinum portrait and a cool +1,000 over her head. Knowledge Sim, so I’m guessing a wolf showed

up on the lot?

It’s wolf Abbey! Good wolfie. *pets* You showed up at the perfect time.

Why, you ask?

What’s that Melanie? +25,000 aspiration points? Could it be?

That’s right folks! Melanie has achieved her LTW to become a Criminal Mastermind. The asylum is

officially OVER!

Now that it’s over, let’s see how everyone else is doing, shall we?

First, let’s look at all the stuff that DOESN’T count for points. We’ll add up points a little later.

Nicole finished the week just barely in the green, with a few Wants she could have filled herself. She was friends with

everyone in the house, and had earned 2 hobby club membership along with decent hobby enthusiasm in several

areas.

Rebecca was in the red, and only one of her Wants she could have filled herself. She was friends with everyone

except for Melanie (no relationship, wow). She too was friends with everyone in the house, and had earned 2 hobby

club membership along with decent hobby enthusiasm in several areas.

Timothy was just as red as Rebecca, and he did have a few wants that he could have fulfilled himself. He was friends

with everyone in the house, and the only person with an enemy (Boho boy). He’d earned 2 hobby club memberships,

and only had a decent amount of enthusiasm in 2 areas.

Professor Leonid was about as red as you can be without going into full-on aspiration failure. He was friends with

everyone, even though he and Melanie weren’t super close. He’d only earned one hobby club membership, but he had

a pretty good spread of enthusiasm.

Matthew was in the red, probably on the verge of a breakdown (and see that Fear of the repo man? Should have

ignored the bills). He was friends with everyone in the house except for Melanie. He’d earned one hobby club

membership card, and had very little enthusiasm for anything.

Jan was the only Sim other than Melanie to be Platinum (and as you can see she just eked it out). She was friends

with everyone, had 2 hobby club memberships, and a decent amount of enthusiasm for several hobbies.

Lastly, there was Muriel, the only one of the inmates to go into aspirational failure. She was still in the red (I’d guess

that she never got out of it), and none of her wants could have been filled, poor girl. She made friend with everyone

except Melanie, and she only had 1 hobby club membership and very little hobby enthusiasm. But since she spent so

much time channeling Mr. Lampshade, this doesn’t surprise me.

So now that it’s all over, what to do?

After all, such a momentous achievement deserves some sort of celebration, right?

“Hello, travel agency? I’d like a one-way ticket to Twikkii Island, leaving immediately.”

The taxi came, and Melanie couldn’t wait to get out of Crazy Town.

“Hi, I’d like the biggest, fanciest room you have.”

“Of course, miss. But it’s rather expensive…”

“I’m not worried about the cost at all. After what I’ve been through, I think I’ve earned myself a nice,

luxurious vacation.”

After a quick trip to purchase some more island appropriate clothing, Melanie took a trip to the beach.

She staked out a nice spot on the sand, and prepared for what she’d been wanting for a long time.

Relaxing in the sun and a little peace and quiet. You’ve earned it, Melanie. I’ll have only good things to

say about you from here forward.

So that’s all there is, folks. The whole purpose of this little project was to torture these two, so I couldn’t

end it without causing them a little pain through the magic of Boolprop.

Thanks for reading, and I hoped you enjoyed. I’ll get back to working on the regular legacy soon.
