•I. The All-knowing God (Omniscient) Verses 1-6

4

Verses 1-3

5

• [3] Thou compassest (comprehend –NKJV) my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

6

• How many times do you sit down and get up in one day?

• God knows!• God knew the writers

meditations when lying in bed

7

Verses 4-6

• [4] For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. [5]Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me…

8

• [6] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

9

• Not only does God know when we sit down and when we get up – He also knows every word we speak

10

Col. 4:6

• Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

11

Col. 4:6 (ESV)

• Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

12

• Verse 6 refers to the knowledge of God

13

Is. 55:8-9

• For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

14

•II. God is every where present (Omnipresent) verses 7-12

15

Verses 7-10

• [7] Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?[8] If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

16

• [9] If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea. [10] Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

17

• You cannot elude nor evade God – His is a limitless presence

• Even the remotest parts of the universe are under His all-seeing eye

18

• Jonah tried to run from God but failed

19

Heb. 4:13

• Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

20

• There is no getting away from God’s Spirit – even those who are in Hades are not hidden from God

21

Verses 11-12

• [11] If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.[12] Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

22

• The darkest night earth has ever known cannot hide the one who tries to run away from God

• Darkness makes man almost helpless – but has no effect upon God

23

Jer. 23:23-24

• [23] Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? [24] Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

24
