TABS:#1_Ed. Center Dismissal_Minimum Day Before Thanksgiving Vacation
Prepared By: Destini Delmonico, Employer-Employee Relations Assistant
Subject: Minimum Day Before Thanksgiving Vacation
Section 4.7 of the negotiated agreement between the Bakersfield City School District and the Bakersfield Elementary Teachers Association indicates that teachers shall be free to leave work ten (10) minutes after the dismissal of the last scheduled minimum day class on the minimum day before Thanksgiving Vacation.
That is Wednesday, November 21st for 2007. Since there is no minimum day scheduled at the Education Center with which to reference a time for leaving work, I submit the following as being consistent with the contract:
1. BETA unit members at the Education Center who do not receive a stipend for a longer working day shall be free to leave at 1:45 p.m.
2. BETA unit members who work 30 minutes longer for the stipend
shall be free to leave at 2:15 p.m.
3. BETA unit members who work 45 minutes longer for the stipend shall be free to leave at 2:30 p.m.
This assumes a 30-minute duty-free lunch.
Item #2 above is also appropriate for unit members in schools who work an additional thirty (30) or forty-five (45) minutes.
