Creating Non-linear Actions

Using

Go to http://docs.google.comand log-in or sign-up

Once you are signed in, youshould see this view:

Go to the “Political Scrapbook” Page on the Course Wiki

Click on the “Google Doc Template” Link

The document will open. If you are not already signed in to your

account, sign-in now.

Go to “File” and select “Save a new copy” The title will now read

“Copy of Benchmarks” Go to “File” and select “Rename” In the dialogue box, rename

the document “Benchmarks_Last_First”

…Almost ready to begin…

Go to “share”, and select “invite people”.

In the “Invite” box, type in my email address: cbrown@mnsd.org

Select “send” at the bottom of the dialogue box and you’re ready to begin

Now, each time you

add content to

your document,

I will automatically receive

it.

Using

Take a screen capture (print screen) of your Wordle

Paste it into Power Point and crop out unwanted parts

Save your Power Point slide in JPEG Interchange Format

The following slides provide a visual representation of the procedure…

When you press “CTRL” and “Print Screen” at the same time, a picture of your entire computer

screen is taken…

Now that you took the “screen capture”… Open a new Power Point document Select “CTRL” + “V” to paste your

screen capture onto the slide

Follow the steps on the following slides to crop your Wordle and save it as an image (JPEG) file

Select the “crop” button,

and crop your

picture to remove

unwanted parts..

Go to File Save As In the “File Name”, type Wordle Use the drop down menu in the “Save as

type” window to select “JPEG File Interchange Format.

When prompted, select “export current slide only”.

Now your Wordle is a “picture” and can be inserted into the Power Point for your final product!

Creating

A non-linear action makes the movement from one slide to another within the PowerPoint non- sequential.

You can assign a “hyperlink” to an image or text, and when you click on it, you will be re-directed to another slide in the Power Point.

ExampleClick here to learn how to add hyperlinks

Email me with any questions cbrown@mnsd.org

To add a hyperlink… Go to “Insert” “Hyperlink”

The “Insert Hyperlink” box will appear On the left, select “Link to” Place in This

Document Select the slide from the “Slide Titles” and

click OK.

When re-directed to the new slide, you should insert a “button” on the bottom right corner that will take you back to the original slide. You can use any type of clip art or image as your

“button”.

Follow the procedure, as discussed on the previous slide.

In the corner of this slide, I have “modeled” the button feature. Click on it to return to the first slide we looked at on this topic.
