StandarStandards:ds:1. Access information efficiently and

effectively.2. Demonstrate originality and

inventiveness in work.3. Interpret information and draw

generalization based on the analysis.4. Synthesize and make connections

between information and images (MS-Office Suites).

5. Use communication for a range of purposes: reporting, gathering data.

Essential Essential QuestionsQuestions

You and your friends live in a far flung barangay below sea level. You learned about what happened in Northern Luzon where lots of houses were flooded due to heavy downpour. As students, How will you be able to determine that such heavy rain will lead to an eminent danger? What can you make to help your community from such disaster?

““Raindrops keep Raindrops keep falling”falling”

1. Research on precipitation and the different weather instruments used in measuring the volume of rain and its functions.

2. Make an improvised weather instrument using recycled materials. (Rain Gauge)

You are a team that wants to help your barangay prevent possible disaster i.e. flooding and loss of lives. You will do the following:

3. Experiment with the use of the improvised rain gauge the volume of rainwater collected for the next 2 months.

4. Construct a graphical representation of the result of your experiment, interpret the graph and make a conclusion, prepare for a group report.

5. Your group must be able to come up with a presentation using MS-PowerPoint comparing your own results to the previous months’

PAG-ASA weather bulletin on the volume of Rainfall.

6. Your group must be able to come up with a multi-media presentation using Photostory 3 for Windows that will raise public awareness on the adverse effects of too much rainfall. Your group presentation will consist of 10 slides (with text, graphics/photos/images and music).

7. Your group will choose a reporter to do the oral reporting in class and to the barangay community.
