Top Tips

Getting to your PlacementAfrica – An amazing,

stunning, beautiful, assault on the senses.

Sights, sounds, smells, tastes and the heat.

Dar es Sallam: Big sprawling city, exciting, scary, smelly, worth a short visit.

Current trip = Plane to Dar, Plane to Mwanza then bus or transport to Tabora. There are other options!

Tabora

The House New House 3 bedrooms - one large one can fit 2 single beds when 4 people

overlapNice big gardenrunning water as we have tanks (but none at the moment as we didntturn meter on however have ahuge rainwater tank )

2 bathrooms - one bathtub with shower, one shower in other bathroom.shower works when there is water (that sentence came out all wrong butyou know what i mean) so now we are bucket showering again

Sit down loos!!!! (which dont flush as not connected to tank - howeverif you pour your collected shower water from the bucket you stand inwhen you shower - pour it into the flush cistern - the toilet flushesas normal_

Electricity on meter, Electric oven & kettle & microwave (all uselessas we have frequent power cuts at crucial times such as evenings -worse than blue gates) hence we have invested in one gas hob thing.

New maid monica - very smiley  - salary still under negotiation.Guards from Dr Ruths next door and her 2 dogs - security very good.

The FoodStaple food – Rice and

BeansLots of good fruit –

mango, banana, watermelon.

Staples – Onions, garlic, tomato, peppers, aubergine, nyanya ntoli (bitter tomato)

Luxuries – packet noodles, crisps, chocolate

Take with you – Marmite, packet foods, luxuries.
