Where the Tech World Meets?(Dublin, Ireland)

How I got there?

I have a friend.

He won the tickets as an Open Source contributor.

Yeah, they do that.

@linkesch

The ticket would have cost € 1200

Also.

Thank you for your support!

“That’s cool”, you say.

Yeah, I know.

Okay, so how does it work?

Web Summit totals:• 21 summits (lecture halls)• 1 000+ speakers• 2 000+ startups• 42 000+ attendees• 20 000+ people looking at their phones• Madness.

Choose what you’re going to miss.

• 4-6 summits at the same time• some hundred startups at their booths (they

rotate daily)• startup pitches all 3 days• you also need to eat and transport yourself• and charge your phone• and tweet

So there is NO way.You just give up and tweet.

Regardless, cool things happen.

We also made new friends.

The useful stuff now

There were speakers and

interviews.

Interviews had famous people in them but speakers’

presentation were usually more useful.

My favourite speakers

Kevin Lacker, Parse @lacker[Code summit]

Javascript is eating the world.

If you want to get a job, learn Node.js.

The next big thing will be in Javascript.

Bryan Liles, Digital Ocean @bryanl

[Code summit]

Treat your instances like cattle, not pets.

Don’t give them names, don’t pet them, don’t foster them.

Deploy on clean new instance and kill the old one.

Chris Moody, Wolff Olins[Design summit]

Brands need to tell a story.

Brands need to push it.

Brands need to be brave.

Bonus #1

Jeff Pulver, Internet Pioneer @jeffpulver

[Code summit?]

Outsourcing weight.

HAM radio as social network.

How getting fired saved his life before 9/11.

Not really about coding, very much about life.

Bonus #2

David Heinemeier Hansson, Basecamp @dhh

[Didn’t show up]

RECONSIDER.

No need to disrupt, dominate and own.

Make a dent in the universe.Read here: t.co/vwBwgoIwMJ

Other amazing facts and wonderful people & companies to look out

More stuff:• US & EU is 14% of global internet.

• Machine learning is cool. At Facebook, Google, Instagram, all the big players.

• There was a lady that said that hacking is mostly a need for penetration.

• Mary Aiken is an inspiration for CSI Cyber.

And that’s it.

There was more but I am going to stop

here.

Suscribe to Web Summit on YouTube.

They will put up all the videos.

Go there, if you can.
