Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali polymath who reshaped his region’s

literature and music. Author of Gitanjali and its “profoundly, sensitive, fresh and

beautiful verse.”, he became the first non-European to win the noble prize in literature

in 1913. His seemingly mesmeric personality, flowing hair and otherworldly dress earned him a prophet- like reputation

in the west. He was highly influential in introducing the best of Indian culture to the

west and vice versa, and he is generally regarded as the outstanding creative artist

of modern India.

Ravindranath Tagore, popularly known as Rabithakur or Kbiguru, a great novelist. Tagore wrote eight novels and four novellas (short novels). With the translation of some his novels in the west. He became popularly known among them as well. His famous book Gitanjali is known worldwide.

NOVELS

GORA Gora raises controversial questions regarding the Indian identity. As with Ghare Baire, matters of self-identity, personal freedom and religion are developed in the context of a family story and love triangle. In it an Irish boy orphaned in the Sepoy mutiny is raised by Hindus as the titular gora “Whitey”.
