SW ACTIVITY IN RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES

RESEARCH ACTIVITY IN RUSSIA
• Most of research work are performed by small group of SW enthusiasts, but the number of supported project is growing quickly.
• Raise of interest to SW in 2013
• The most popular research area in Russia:
✴ NLP and text mining (math linguistic is quite well developed in Russian universities)
✴ Ontology engineering (many project using light-weight ontologies, but few based on DL and semantic science)
✴ Linked data (applied works using semantic wiki and RDF storages)
• Many (probably most) project are run by students and young researchers.

• Linked learning project (started in 2013)
• Domain ontology visualization and graphcal editing web application (for knowledge engineers and knowledge base access)
• IoT and IoD projects (smart environment, semantic base of food data)
• Open Data for Government (Open Budget of St.Petersburg)
• Semantic search and text mining (scientific publications, eTourism)
• Semantic Data integration of University data

PAST EVENTS
• 2010 - was planned as local event, but only in two month people from all around Russia were attracted
• 2011- two events: SW school and the conference
• 2012 - three events (school, hackathon, conference), STi was a Gold sponsor, the woking language in English. SW school in two tracks (thanks to Leipzig University and LOD2 project for support of LD track)
KESW 2013
• 3 events during 10 days
• International team and about 50 PC members from all around the world
• Proceeding will be published in Springer and indexed in Scopus
• Many participants from outside of Russia
• Industry track (Russian non academic projects will be present)
