Solar UpdatesI wanted to make sure everyone knew where we are with our solar panel proj-ect. We had a board/finance meeting last Sunday after church and many of you attended to ask questions, get clarifications and hear where we are at on the project. The full details of those notes will be available in the office for anyone interested. To summarize, we discussed the scope, timeline, and financing of the solar project. The board agreed to authorize an expedinture to pay for the plans to be drawn up for a 10,000 kilowatt solar array on the sloped portion of our roof. This is one more step towards the solar project, but not a commitment to spend the full amount to purchase the system. The finance cabinet agreed to explore pos-sible finance options. At that meeting, it was reiterated that should we move forward with this projec-twe would be participating in an incentive program through Pacific Power. What this means is that for a 15-year contract period, we would be receiving income from Pacific Power per kilowatt of energy we produce. This would allow us to recover our cost and make a small amount on our investment. I hope the graphs and figure below will help make this concept clearer. Please contact me with further questions or comments. These graphs and figures are provided to us by Abundant Solar, a local solar energy company in Corvallis.
