Recent scientific publications of the IB group
New International publication: Embryo metabolomics
One ofthe major limitationsof Assisted Reproduction techniques (ART) is the rates ofembryo implantation.By selecting an embryo with greater implantation capacity will increase thesuccess rates of ART as a whole. One method is morphological assessment; howeverthere are times whengood quality embryosfail toresult in a pregnancy. The aimof this study publishedin the journalMetabolomics is to look for biomarkersthat will allow us toidentify the implantation capacityof the embryo in a non—invasive manner by applying differentanalytical techniques:HPLC-MS,HPLC-MS/MSand NMR.The resultsof this studysuggest thatcertain amino acids in the embryoculture mediumact as markersof theirimplementation capacity. Newscientific publicationon chromosonic screening in pregnancies following ART
LastAprilthe journal, Progressin Obstetrics and Gynaecology, published arecent study by ourteam entitled,Screening chromosomes in the third quarter. Results in pregnancies afterassisted reproduction. The aim of this study was to test theeffectiveness of thecombined testfor aneuploidyin ART pregnanciesin the first quartercompared to spontaneouspregnancies. Newembryo incubators for culture at low oxygen concentrations
We have installed in our IVF laboratory state-of-the-art incubatorsfor embryo cultureat lowoxygen concentrations. This equipment is designed to maintainconditions similar tothose foundin utero, resultingin betterembryo quality andhigher success ratesthan those obtained withconventionalincubators. They are best used forpatients with a worseprognosis, such asthose who have sufferedrepeatimplantation failure(RIF) or thosewho respondminimally tostimulation protocols, resulting in a low number of eggs (
poor responders).
