What is Stress ?• Stress is your mind and body’s

response or reaction to a real or imagined threat, event or change.

• The threat, event or change are commonly called stressors. Stressors can be internal (thoughts, beliefs, attitudes) or external (loss, tragedy, change).

Causes for stress• Major life changes• Work• Relationship difficulties• Financial problems• Being too busy• Children and family• Not all stress is caused by external factors. Stress can also

be self-generated:• Inability to accept uncertainty• Pessimism• Negative self-talk• Unrealistic expectations• Perfectionism• Lack of assertiveness
