Shimo-toriShimotori was built in 1969.There are 175 stores. The street is the biggest shopping arcade in the Western Japan. (length : 511m, breadth: 15m)  The northern end of the street is lighted up with full color LED.

Kami-toriThe first arcade was made in 1962. The current arcade imitated Musee d'Orsay. There are two Bookstores that have long history in the street. Nagasaki Bookstore established in 1889, and Marubun Bookstore established in 1920. Also, The street is famous as the fashion street of Kumamoto.

Official name is Sunroad Shinshigai. It is famous for cinemas. But there are only three cinemas now. They are Denkikan, Shochiku, Shineparadaisu.

Namikizaka

Namikizaka is a part without the arcade of Kamitori.Old and new various shops stand in a row along the street. For example, Import old clothes and sundry goods shops, record shop, Japanese-style confectionery shop, secondhand bookstore, musical instrument shop. It is the way where a lot of youths gather.

Kaminoura-dori

This street lies in the north of Kamitori, parallel east side of Namikizaka-dori.Fashionable people, particular young, pay attention to it!!

Okusu-dori and Shower-dori

Okusu-dori is in back of Kamitori. It stems from big camphor tree. This street has sixteen big camphor tree row.

Shower-dori is in the south of Shimo-tori. In case of sunny day, sunlight filtering down through the trees, rainy day, rain pours on like a shower!!    

Sannenzaka-dori and Sh iromicho-dori

Sannenzaka-dori has a slope. This street also has nice scene.

Siromicho-dori is cross with Shimo-tori. In this street, their object is “Environmental town”

Ginza-dori

This street is cross with Shimo-tori. This is long street, so there are many stores to eat and drink.

These streets are crowd when it get dark. If you want to go there, please visit at night!
