A very good evening to my dear teachers, parents and fellow friends. Today, I’m going to tell you a story about Krishna and Govardhan Hill.

As we all know Krishna is the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He lived in the village named Gokul. In Gokul there was a hill known as Govardhan. Every year, all villagers worshipped the Lord Indra to get good rainfall. Because of this, Lord Indra developed pride. He thought that everything in this world runs smoothly because of him.

Krishna sensed Indra’s pride and want to teach him a lesson. Krishna told the villagers to stop worshipping Lord Indra and offer pooja to the Govardhan hill which is very dear to him.

Lord Indra became very furious on knowing this. He started a heavy storm in the village.

The villagers were scared and ran to Krishna for help. Krishna told the villagers not to be worried as Govardhan Hill will save everyone from the calamity.

Krishna instructed all the villagers to gather near the hill. To everyone’s amazement Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill on his little finger. All the villagers got shelter from the rains under the hill. Finally Lord Indra became exhausted and realized his mistake.
