The Israelites needed to wait on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord is the confident expectation that

God will act on his schedule. “I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the

house of Jacob, and I will hope in him” (Is 8:17, ESV). “I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and

heard my cry.He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure” (Ps 40:1-2, ESV).

The point is that God doesn’t always use our timeline to do what he thinks is best.
