your life

The way you start your day can make or break the rest of your day so it’s important you have a morning routine that sets you up for a healthy, focused and productive day.

PHYSICAL MENTAL EMOTION

WAKE UP EARLY1

The best way to start your day is to wake up early. This gives you the opportunity to begin to plan your day before the pressure begins.

EXERCISE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

2

Research has shown that early morning exercise helps to optimize the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. This helps you to become alert and gives you the energy and vigour to do your work efficiently.

MEDITATION3

Meditation helps you to keep things in perspective and helps you to strengthen your inner powers that is responsible for how your life turns out to be.

ORGANIZE YOUR DAY4

The first hour of the work day is the best time to assess priorities and to focus on what you absolutely need to accomplish. Make a to-do list, or update the one you made the previous day, and try to stick to it.

AFFIRMATION5

Speak positive words that would only support and help you become productive throughout the day e.g. Everything would work for my good today

Having an attitude of gratitude is a great way of staying positive irrespective of the circumstances. Have a list of things you can truly be grateful for and reflect on it

6

You can’t change how people feel about you, so don’t try. Just live your life and be happy

DECIDE TO STAY HAPPY AND POSITIVE7

DRINK WATER8

After a night of sleeping and perspiring, your body needs to be rehydrated. Drink a glass of water as part of your morning routine.

If you remain committed to good morning work habits, you won’t fall prey to feeling unproductive and distracted at the end of the day.

Every day, as you wake up, think... today I am fortunate to be alive. I have a precious human life. I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others. I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.•Dalai Lama
