MASS SCHEDULE
SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 28, 2019
Deacon Bill Robinson... It’s been a pleasure to have Deacon Bill Robinson intern in our parish for the past two years. A number of parishioners have commented on Bill’s extroverted manner, smile, exuberance and faith filled sermons. Although Bill’s time here during this past year was limited to weekends, Bill preached regularly, taught both 9th and 10th grade Confirmation classes, helped run the overnight Confirmation retreat, baptized children, prayed at wake services, attended parish functions, assisted at Masses and observed many pastoral meetings with Fr. Giombetti and me. During the week Bill was carrying a full academic load at the seminary and recently received his S.T.B. (Bachelor of Sacred Theology). As many know and Bill is quick to point out he is also in the Air Force Reserves and will continue to serve in the Reserves after he’s ordained. Bill will be finishing his academic studies this week and then will make a week’s retreat prior to being ordained. He will receive his new parish assignment the evening before he is ordained.
We encourage our parishioners to support Bill by attending his ordination which will last approximately 2 hours. Our parish will have a coach bus transport parishioners to and from Bill’s Ordination to the Priesthood Mass on May 18th. Those who attend will also be able to see the newly renovated Cathedral of the Holy Cross which has just reopened after 2 years. The bus will leave the parish parking lot on Saturday, May 18th at 8 a.m. and return approximately at 2 p.m. The bus is free but there are only a limited number of seats so sign up early. You can register for the bus by calling Tina at the parish office 508-697-9528.
Draining and church landscaping... Hopefully you’ve noticed the new landscaping around the church and in front of the parking lot. Prior to putting in new landscaping on the left side of the church we needed to install a new drainage system to prevent erosion and water damage. We also needed to build more secure retaining walls outside the lower church entrances. Last fall I mentioned that the Grand Annual Appeal funds would be directed to three purposes….. the installation a fire suppressant system in the parish center and classrooms, the renovation and upgrade of the parish offices and the installation of new landscaping around the church. Two of these three will be completed within the next few weeks. The fire suppressant system is taking longer.
Mission Trip... How would you think 30 high school students would want to spend the first few weeks of their summer vacation? Following last year’s successful trip to Detroit, students from our parish this year will travel (by bus) to Charleston, South Carolina to work in impoverished areas in soup kitchens, shelters, at risk youth organizations, and low income daycare centers. They will also help with work projects including demolition, construction, and farming, which will benefit poverty stricken families, senior citizens, and the disabled. GREAT WAY TO BEGIN THEIR SUMMER? YOU BET! This experience will enable them put their faith into practice. These students are required to raise funds to pay for the transportation, some tools, food and faith orientation sessions each night. They are having a bake sale after each Mass this weekend hoping to raise money. Thank you for any support you can give them.
Thank you... Finally, I’d like to thank all who contributed to the Easter collection which raised $15,615. As you may know the Christmas and Easter collections are given entirely for the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust which covers medical expenses for priests as well as retirement benefits for priests who’ve faithfully served the People of God within and outside our diocese for many years. Priests within our archdiocese are not eligible for retirement until they are 75 yrs. old! - Fr. Bill
April 28 ~ Second Sunday of Easter (Sunday of Divine Mercy)
We hear today of Jesus’ gift to us and his commission: "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." He was speaking to his apostles, who were fearfully gathered behind a locked door, but his message extends to each of us, here and now. We are the ones Jesus spoke of when he said: “Blessed are those who have not seen but believe.” We are to be his instruments of mercy and peace. Bring that mercy and peace to your family, neighborhood, school and workplace this week. Notice the difference it makes to others!
RCIA RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
During the Easter Vigil we welcomed new members of our Catholic Church who have been journeying with us for many months. Jere Ingargiola and Shannan Robillard received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist and David Sena received Confirmation and Eucharist as he was welcomed to full communion in the Catholic Church. Join us in continuing to pray for and welcome them into our parish family!
SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 28, 2019
What a wonderful year it has been to share with you! It has been an honor and a pleasure. I come away with wonderful memories of your warmth and kindness. Serving with and for you at Sunday Masses, Religious Education, Baptisms, social events, and more, have all been delightful. Being here has helped prepare me for the priesthood and you have made a difference in my life.
I have learned and experienced much and express my deep gratitude to Fr. Bill, Fr. Giombetti, the staff, and most importantly to all of you. You have a beautiful spirit of Christ’s light and love and it is something I will take with me. Know that you are in my prayers and I wish you all the very best. God Bless!

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 28, 2019
PART TIME MAINTENANCE WANTED
Maintenance is a vital part of parish operations. There are many projects behind the scenes that are unseen and unheard, all of which are done by the maintenance staff in order to keep things running smoothly. Maintenance does it all: lighting, HVAC, cleaning, plowing & shoveling, cemetery operations, or even just the physical moving and constant setting up and taking down for events.
The parish is currently looking for a Part Time Maintenance worker. This is a 20-25 hour per week position that involves regular maintenance of all parish properties: the church, rectory, chapel and cemeteries. During the spring and summer months, this job will have expanded hours ranging from 30-35 hours per week when landscaping is a priority. Prior experience is preferred. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Peter V. in the parish office at 508-697-9528.
