ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH CODE OFORDINANCES CHAPTER 4 ANIMALS, FOWL AND REPTILES,ARTICLE V ANIMAL CONTROL AND WELFARE, TO AMENDAND REENACT SECTIONS 4-120.00 THROUGH 4-136.00

WHEREAS, the last comprehensive revision of this Article occurred in 2009, and periodic reviewsof existing ordinances are useful in assuring that the ordinances are correct and up to date; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend Article V of Chapter 4, thereby replacing the existing Sections,Sections 4-120.00 through 4-136.00, upon the enactment of those Sections 4-120.00 through 4-136.00as set forth and attached in Exhibit A.

THE PARISH OF ST. TAMMANY HEREBY ORDAINS: that Article V of Chapter 4 of the St.Tammany Parish Code of Ordinances is hereby amended and reenacted in its entirety and, as amended,the existing Sections 4-120.00 through 4-136.00, shall be replaced with Sections 4-120.00 through4-136.00 as set forth and attached in Exhibit A.

REPEAL: All ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SEVERABILITY: If any provision of this Ordinance shall be held to be invalid, such invalidity shallnot affect other provisions herein which can be given effect without the invalid provision and to this endthe provisions of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after adoption.

ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. TAMMANY PARISH CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 4 ANIMALS, FOWL AND REPTILES, ARTICLE V ANIMAL CONTROL AND WELFARE, TO AMEND AND REENACT SECTIONS 4-120.00 THROUGH 4-136.00

This amendment is being done to update the Animal Control Ordinance. No substantive changes have been made. Some definitions have been revised to match language later in the ordinance. The definition of service animal has been updated to match the current federal ADA definition. Housing requirements for reptiles have been added, and minor language corrections have been performed.
