MUSICAL NOTES
OPEN CHOIR REHEARSALS The St. Helen Music Ministry invites anyone who is curious
about music ministry to join us for an open rehearsal. Septem-
ber 19, we'll rehearse in the music room from 7-8, then have
coffee and desserts to follow. This is a great opportunity to get
a feel for rehearsals, learn about music ministry opportunities,
and most importantly... have fun praising God. "Visitors" do not need to participate in the open
rehearsal, but are welcome to sing along. Open rehearsals (with no commitment to join the choir)
will continue on September 26 and October 3. For more information, contact Ellen:
Ellen.garmann@sthelenparish.org
CAN YOU LEND A HAND?
The Handbell Choir needs you! We are hoping to add three ringers to our ranks this year. If
you have patience, can count to 6, and know your left from right, then this ministry just might be
for you! We invite anyone 6th grade and above to try it out. This is a great ministry for kids and
parents to be involved in together. The commitment is approximately 1 hour a week, plus mass
once a month or so. Rehearsals are typically Wednesday night at 6pm, but that isn't set in
stone. For more information, contact Ellen at Ellen.garmann@sthelenparish.org
MEN'S CHOIR RETURNS SOON!
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION Classes have just begun and we are still taking registrations for our Pre
-K through 8th grade Parish School of Religion Program (PSR) for the

IF YOU HAVEN’T “MET” YET,
ALLOW US TO INTRODUCE YOU TO
THE “TOP THRILL DRAGSTER”
ROLLER COASTER AT CEDAR POINT According to Wikipedia, “after leaving
the station, the train enters the launch area. Once the
train is prepared to launch, a motor revving sound ef-
fect is played and its magnetic braking fins are low-
ered from the launch track. It then launches, acceler-
ating to a speed of 120 mph (190 km/h) in 3.8 sec-
onds. Shortly after reaching its maximum velocity, the
catch car disengages, and the train begins its ascent
up a 90-degree incline, twisting 90 degrees clock-
wise before climbing over the 420-foot (130 m) top
hat. Upon descending, the track twists 270 degrees
before leveling out, allowing the train to be stopped
by the magnetic brakes.”
While we celebrate the ingenuity and creativity
and sophisticated engineering and the thrill of these
rides, we also wonder: does the description sound like
a metaphor for your life some days? ...your life when
things happen that you did or did not choose to have
to deal with?
When you feel this way, allow yourself some
time to stop and relax and be made whole again in the
Lord. Seek out the restful waters and let your soul lie
down!
