PAUL’S PLAN

Point 7.

• If we are not careful we get carried away with spiritual warfare and cannot plan in peace.

Thesis:

• The letter to Rome contains three postscripts encompassing a representative cross-section of Paul’s companions and the believers in Rome.

P.S. I LOVE YOU

• To the saints at Rome, closing with a benediction at verse 20

• From the saints at Corinth, closing with a benediction at verse 24

• Closing with the benediction of verse 27

THREE CHURCHES IN ROME

• That which Aquila and Priscilla had in their home, 3-5

• The five brethren mentioned in verse 14

• The three men and two women mentioned in verse 15

Point 1.

• The only Christians you find in the Bible are ones who are under the authority of a pastor who rules over them in the Lord (Heb 13:7,17) in a local assembly of believers.

SIX MARYS IN THE BIBLE

1. Mary Magdalene (of Magdala)2. The mother of Mark3. The mother of James and Joses4. The sister of Martha at Bethany5. The Mary in Rom 166. The Mother of Jesus

Point 2.

• Christianity sanctifies our family relationships, because without Christ there is no eternal aspect to our physical families.

PROGRESS OF THE DOCTRINE OF THE

CHURCH• Began in Matt 10 potentially• In effect by Matt 18 practically• Empowered in Acts 2 publicly• Revealed to Paul in Eph 3-5 doctrinally• Will be removed in 1 Thes 4 privately• Will return in Rev 19 visibly• Will be glorified in Rev 21 eternally

THREE LEVELS OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

1. Some are just in the Lord

2. Some go a step further and labor in the Lord

3. Those leaders who labor much in the Lord

Point 3.

• At the same time mutual greetings express love, they also increase and strengthen love. These are the physical touches that endear us to one another.

Point 4.

• A danger discovered is half prevented.

Definition:

• The doctrine of Biblical separation is designed to regulate the local church, not to regulate the world.

Point 5.

• The devil and his agents have a particular spite against growing churches, and people who are growing spiritually.

Point 6.

• Christians should emulate the wisdom of the serpent, but not his subtlety.

SATAN’S LIMITATIONS

1. He cannot take the peace of a Spirit-filled person

2. He cannot take your life before its time

3. He cannot prevent the frustration of his own purpose

4. He cannot get you into Hell once you are in Christ

HOW TO BE FIRM IN THE FAITH

1. Receiving the gospel (relationship with the word of God)

2. Heeding the preacher (response to the Spirit of God)

3. Being a part of the local church (ministry with the people of God)

Point 7.

• Suffering in ministry brings strength in service, stability in spirit, and stablishment in scripture.

WHAT WAS PAUL'S GOSPEL?

1. The preaching of Jesus Christ, 2:16; 2 Cor 4:5

2. The revelation of the mystery, Rom 16:25; Eph 3:9; 2 Tim 1:10

Point 8.

• You can be saved and not be in right relationship to a church, but you cannot fulfill God's will for you, and God's plan according to the Bible, if you are not in right relationship to the church.
