In celebration of the new
Fall season, SSA willhost its first ever Fall
Kick-Off Picnic. On Sun-
day, August 29 at Gary
Park, SSA will introduce
our new coaching direc-
tor Mr. Tony Horta of
AFC. Players will also
get to meet their
coaches.
introduce some exciting
changes for this fall.
The Board listened to the
desires of the families it
serves via its fall survey
and is pleased to for-
mally announce its part-nership with Academica
Futebol Club (AFC)! SSA
now has a relationship
with a professional soc-
cer representative, AFC
President Tony Horta,
that it has been actively
seeking for some
time. Mr. Horta has vast
soccer knowledge and
experience, and em-
braces collaboration. His
guidance will help SSA
center its coaching staff
while simultaneously en-
hancing players skill de-
velopment.
Mr. Horta will serve as
Coaching Director and
will oversee the imple-
mentation of a proven
curriculum at all lev-
els. This past spring, at
the recommendation of
Mr. Horta and thereafterorganized by SSA Travel
Director Jorge Tomas,
many of our volunteer
coaches and Board mem-
bers obtained their Con-
necticut Junior Soccer
Association (CJSA) ap-
proved E-license. SSA
will work to provide li-
censing opportunities for
additional SSA coaches
in the future. Please
check our website fre-quently for information.
It is apparent that after
working with Mr. Horta
and AFC employees this
past spring that AFC
shares SSAs vision as to
U12 girls celebrate their champion-
Fall Kick-Off Picnic set for Sunday August 29The festivities will begin at
1 pm. Hotdogs and drinkswill be served to each
player, beginning at 1:30.
Each family will also be
provided with 2 additional
hotdog tickets. A limited
supply of additional hot
dog and drink will be
available for purchase.
Tickets will be available for
pick-up at the entrance of
the park.
There will be an exhibi-
tion scrimmage between
the U14 girls and the
U12 boys, beginning at
2:15.
Families will be able to
display their team spirit
and support this fall.
Seymour Soccer shirts
and decals will be avail-
able for purchase. Pro-
ceeds will benefit theSSA program. A photo
package for fall team
pictures will be raffled at
$1 per ticket or 10 tick-
ets for $5.
Families are invited to
bring lawn chairs, food,
coolers, and join in the
fun.
