extensively world wide. Here I-CUBE uses NEURAL NETWORKS illustrates the concept to identify and track vehicles.

The ability to automatically predict and identify those involved in speeding, theft, illegal transactions or wrongful unitisation of resources greatly empowers local authorities.

Elements of typical LPR systemsLPR systems normally consist of the following units:

•Camera(s) - that take the images of the car (front or rear side)

•Illumination - a controlled light that can brighten up the plate, and allow day and night operation.

•Frame grabber - an interface board between the camera and the PC, allows the software to capture the image information

•Computer - normally a PC running Windows or Linux to run the LPR application which controls the system, reads the images, analyzes and identifies the plate, and interfaces with other applications and systems.

•Software - the application and the recognition package. Usually the recognition package is supplied as a DLL (Dynamic Link Library).

•Hardware - various input/output boards used to interface the external world.

•Database - the events are recorded on a local database or transmitted over the network.

• Cameras have different capture modes• System enables different settings of cameras in order to

optimize recognition versus throughput.• Shutter speed adjustable, system can handle the speed

requirements (100MPH) at 1/2000.
