What we are committed to delivering for Sport & Active Lifestyles for the future at Warwick The world has changed - The University is facing a real challenge, and we have a significant role to play; In order to meet that challenge, and play our part, we need to go beyond what we have delivered in the past - so we need to get ready. Commenced last year with the Warwick Sport Review….; To help us move to a new level, we have an opportunity to secure major new investment in facilities, support and systems - but we need to be willing to change and deliver improvements for anyone who wants to participate; We will need you all to be part of the journey and create your own legacy…

12.1.1 Discrimination of any nature is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Warwick SU. Furthermore, this Union strives to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for its staff, students and visitors, as well as ensuring they are treated fairly at all times.

Welfare & Equal Opps Ben Sundell

12.1.2 Warwick SU aims to:

a) Encourage a community in which all individuals may contribute without fear of discriminatory or unfair attitudes or practices.

b) Actively promote an environment free from intimidation or victimisation

on any grounds including, but not limited to; gender, age, race, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, religious belief, political belief, perceived academic ability, appearance, social status, spent criminal convictions, HIV status or gender reassignment.

Welfare & Equal Opps Ben Sundell

What this means in reality:

• Be AWARE: • Bullying, discrimination does go on. Your responsibility is to make sure

it doesn’t happen in your club • Events, socials – bear everyone in mind, provision for non-drinkers…

• ‘the Executive must ensure that there is a range of activities that appeal to the diverse Union membership’

• Hate Crime:

• Please look out for your members, particularly International Students, and if you hear anything, please report it to Ben (Welfare Officer)
