GP CME (General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition) is run in conjunction with the New Zealand Medical Association. The meeting has a strong reputation for short, sharp
and to the point clinical content relevant to daily practice. Each session has 2-3 key ‘take-home’ messages to change clinical behaviour immediately.
The meeting is endorsed for CME and MOPS purposes by the RNZCGP. Approximately 20% of New Zealand’s GP’s attend the GP CME meeting.
The inaugural South GP CME 2010 meeting was held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Christchurch in August 2010. Due to the support for the meeting the committee has now confi rmed this will run as an annual meeting.

You are invited to attend the inaugural NZMA GP CME South 2010
(General Practice Conference & Medical Exhibition). Due to the popularity
of the Rotorua GP CME meeting a second GP CME meeting is organised
for the South Island this year.
The inaugural meeting will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor,
Christchurch.
The programme is varied and covers key areas of interest in general
practice. The content provides short, sharp and to the point clinical
updates with key ‘take home’ messages to change your daily behaviour.
Includes repeated group sessions with case studies.
NZMA members receive $150 discount on full registration.
There is a dedicated Practice Nurses Programme on Saturday 7August,
arranged by the New Zealand College of Practice Nurses and facilitated
by Colleen O’Connell. Registered Nurses are invited to any other sessions.
The Practice Nurses session will run at Holiday Inn opposite Hotel Grand
Chancellor.
Emergency Resuscitation Courses to Level 5 Standard will be repeated,
with a minimum of 6 and limited to 12 people per session. As spaces are
limited, these will be allocated as registration forms are received.
The Saturday evening Conference Dinner is an optional highlight; a relaxed
dinner and dance with entertainment and band.
We look forward to hearing if you can attend.

It is again my pleasure as Chairman of the NZMA’s GP Council to welcome
you all to the annual NZMA GP CME. This conference has gone from
strength to strength over the years and remains the most well attended
GP conference in New Zealand.
This year we have extended the conference to four days with the optional
workshops on Thursday. We hope this allows a bit of time out to enjoy
some of the other attractions of Rotorua.
The venue this year is again the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua. This
venue was used last year for the fi rst time and proved to be excellent. The
larger area for industry stands, where delegates can mingle over morning
and afternoon teas and lunch, has further improved the “networking”
that is so important at this conference.
As in past years many of the registrants and speakers are return visitors.
This is indicative of the quality of the conference. We think you will fi nd
this the case and will be very likely to return in subsequent years, and we
hope you will tell your colleagues and encourage them to come in future
years.
As with recent years there is a specifi c programme for Practice Nurses
organised in conjunction with the College of Practice Nurses. Teamwork
has become increasingly important in General Practice and we are pleased
to be able to provide this education for Practice Nurses and would like to
see our GP colleagues encourage Practice Nurses to attend.
The Conference Dinner has become famous. Every year Chappie & Leon
come up with some amazing entertainment and I am assured that this
year is no different. After last year you might want to reconsider whether
you should wear a tie, though it did come back intact!
As usual we have a medico-political session on Friday and this should
be especially interesting in this General Election year. Please take the
opportunity to hear what the politicians have to say, how your elected GP
leaders respond, and of course have your opportunity to ask questions of
both groups.
As with all conferences the educational content is important, but we aim
to make this conference both educational and a great social event. We
hope that you fi nd both to be the case.
Enjoy your time here and enjoy General Practice.

6-8 August 2010 | Hotel Grand Chancellor | Christchurch
If you require any further details, visit www.gpcme.co.nz/south or contact;

Product Listing/Category
We will produce a product/service category listing to help delegates fi nd products/health conditions and services. This will be cross-referenced with the exhibition stands.
Please indicate which categories you would like to be listed under on the exhibition form.
Prizes
We will list any prizes/competitions/giveaways you are offering from your stand. We include these details in the conference proceedings and on the main information board to give delegates a heads up on what is happening around the exhibition area. This will also help as a conversation starter and may reduce the need for repetition re introducing the prize/competition when delegates arrive at your stand.
We can notify winners of your competition onsite, prior to the fi nal catering session on Sun 31 July, and encourage them to visit your stand to collect their prize prior to leaving the conference. We can only do this for exhibitors who advise us what competition they are running.
You will need to advise the winner of your competition to us at the conference registration desk by 5pm on Sat 30 July.
Deadline for receiving your prize/competition details is Fri 24 June 2011.
Delegate Flow Conference Competition
To encourage delegate fl ow in all areas we are running a famous painting competition.
Each exhibitor will be issued with a piece of the painting. Delegates will need to obtain a piece from all exhibitors to enter the draw for:
• Registration and travel for Pacifi c CME 2012 (August/September 2012, Sofi tel Fiji)
The entry form will be a page in the conference proceedings book.
