In October 2014 Civicon purchased 30 RHD 6x4, 340 HP Beiben Tippers. The tippers were to be used on the road construction for the Lake Turkana Wind Power project (LTWP). The project is poised to provide 300 MW of clean power to Kenya’s national electricity grid by taking advantage of a unique wind resource in Northwest Kenya near Lake Turkana.
The proposal included full support and the supply of spares for a year. We arranged for the manufacture, inspection, delivery to the port, customs clearance, loading and shipping to Mombasa.
In August 2014, we were given a brief by IMA World health to come up with a solution to transport and build mobile medical health clinics in South Sudan. IMA required a clinic that could be transported in a 20FT container (The road network is extremely poor), contained a four room clinic (Waiting room, Doctor surgery, delivery room and drug dispensary)including furniture, medical equipment and solar power units for lights and basic appliances.
Once completed we inspected, loaded and shipped the container to Mombasa. On arrival in Mombasa we cleared and transported the container to Juba by road, performed all custom duties and assembled the clinic in the town of Bor, heavily aected by the ghting and still fairly unsafe with very little access to basic building supplies.
In May 2014 Source Supply were contracted by Saab AB (Support services) to supply and construct accommodation facilities, oces, a secure bunker and recreational facilities on site at the Mogadishu airport in Somalia.
There were two distinct time frames - The immediate project for three custom-designed oces and four en-suite accommodation containers. This was to be followed a few months later by the accommodation, administration oces, bunker and recreational buildings.
For the rst part the only option was to design and manufacture in Dubai then airfreight direct to Mogadishu. The second part of the project was manufactured and shipped from China along with the consolidated furniture, air conditioners, catering equipment, solar heaters, TVs and gym equipment.
Source Supply had been working with various contractors throughout Angola on a variety of projects when we were awarded repeat business. A second cement factory was being built and our client required an accommodation camp for the workers. This proved to be the biggest project for us in 2009, and included the provision of 400 houses and oces from the steel framed prefabricated building range.
Once the accommodations were built, we then were able to provide all the furniture, kitchen and bathroom ttings, appliances such as fridges, microwaves, gas cookers, electric hoods, TV’s. To make each house more comfortable we also supplied all bedding including mattress and pillows and even the towels in the bathrooms. We had such a wide range of products to source that in the end we used 35 dierent suppliers, shipping from 8 dierent Chinese Ports to Angola using 45x40HQ shipping containers.
With renewable energy a major opportunity across the globe we have seen a large rise in the production of wind-turbines. Our client sent us their requirements knowing that this would be the largest crawler crane to be supplied to East Africa. We purchased the crane on their behalf and managed to negotiate interest free payments over 24 months. The whole crane was then painted to match the clients brand colours, and the logistics of shipping such an enormous vehicle began. This unit, known as the QUY260, weighs in at 210 tonnes can lift a maximum 260 tonnes to a height of 110m providing capacity to build the biggest wind-turbines necessary for the wind farms across East Africa. The body of the crane was 48m long, and required specially designed trailers to enable it to be towed onto the ship which was to transport it to Kenya via Mozambique. In total, we required 19 of these trailers to get the crane components to its destination.
Source Supply was contracted to assist with the development of The Residences – a new Villa complex comprising of a number of stunning two and three bedroomed villas They needed our expertise to supply everything, from the individual minibars, right through to the artwork found in each villa. We organised each item of furniture, the bedding, ttings, rugs, curtains, air conditioners and more. In order to do this in a timely manner, maintaining a high level of quality, whilst still ensuring that the costs were kept low was a huge task. Source Supply managed and coordinated in excess of thirty suppliers in order to achieve this.
