Thissectionexplainshowtodownloadstillimagesandmoviestoyourcomputer(Windows).

Downloading ImagesTherearetwomethodsfordownloadingimagesfromthecameratoyourcomputer.

1. Downloading images without using image download software such as DL‑10 (GP.6).Thecameraisrecognizedbythecomputerasaseparatedriveandappearson[MyComputer].Selectandcopyimages.

2. Use image downloading software such as DL‑10 to download all images to the computer (GP.7).TouseDL-10,DCSoftwaremustbeinstalled.ForinformationonhowtoinstallDCSoftware,seethe“CameraUserGuide”.

• DonotturnoffthecameraordisconnecttheUSBcableduringimagetransfer.Thefileswillnotbewrittencorrectly.

• DonotusethecomputertoformattheSDmemorycardortheinternalmemory.UsethecameratoformattheSDmemorycardortheinternalmemory.

• BesuretostoptheconnectionbeforeremovingtheUSBcable.

• Thecameracannotdisplaypicturesthathavebeentransferredtothecomputerusing“WindowsPhotoGallery”(WindowsVista)or“WindowsLivePhotoGallery”(Windows7)andthencopiedfromthecomputertoamemorycardwhichissubsequentlyinsertedinthecamera.

• OnlyoneRicohdigitalcameracanbeconnectedtoonecomputer.DonotconnectmultipleRicohcamerastoonecomputeratthesametime.

• ThenamesforDCSoftwareitemsdifferfromthenamesforCaplioSoftwareitemsprovidedwithpreviousmodelsasshownbelow.

• Whendownloadingimagesfromyourcamera,loadabatterywithadequateremainingpowerinthecamera.

• IfthereisanSDmemorycardinthecamera,imageswillbeloadedfromthecard.IfthereisnoSDmemorycardinthecamera,imageswillbeloadedfromtheinternalmemoryonthecamera.

• ThesoftwareincludedintheCD-ROMcanonlybeusedwithWindows.

Downloading Images Without Using DL‑10

1. Make sure that the camera power is off.

2. Connect the accessory USB cable to a USB port of your computer.

3. Connect the USB cable to the USB terminal of your camera.

Yourcameraturnson.Yourcomputerautomaticallyreadsthefilenecessaryforrecognizingthecameraasadrive.Afterthispreparation,thecameraisdisplayedasadriveat[MyComputer].

4. From the displayed drive, copy a file to the desired location.Thefigurebelowshowsthefolderconfigurationofthedrive.

Whenthecontentsoftheinternalmemoryaredisplayed,thedrivenameis[RICOHDCI].

• Ifafilewiththesamenamealreadyexistsatthedestination,itisoverwritten.

• IfDCSoftwareisinstalled,clearthecheckboxnexttothe[SavesautomaticallywhenconnectedtoUSB]optionintheDL-10[Optionsettings]dialogbox.

Downloading All Images Using the DL‑10 SoftwareDL-10automaticallycreatesafoldercalled[DigitalCamera]insideyour[MyDocuments]folder.Downloadedimagesaresavedinfolderswiththedateofeachshot,insidethe[DigitalCamera]folder.(Thefileswillcontinuetobesavedinthe[Caplio]folderifyouwerepreviouslyusingCaplioSoftware.)

Setthecorrectdateandtimeonthecamerabeforeshooting.

1. Make sure that the camera power is off.

2. Connect the USB cable to the USB port of your computer.

3. Connect the USB cable to the USB terminal of your camera.

Thecameraturnson,DL-10starts,andtheDL-10windowappears.

Imagetransferbeginsautomatically.

Ifimagetransferdoesnotbegin,pleasetrythefollowingprocedures:• Clickthe[Save]buttonintheDL-10

window.• Restartyourcomputerandperform

Steps1to3again.• Confirmthatthe[Savesautomatically

whenconnectedtoUSB]checkboxinthe[Optionsettings]dialogboxforDL-10isselected.

• Whenthe[Thesameimagewillnotbesaved]checkboxisselectedinDL-10[Optionsettings](GP.11),thetotalnumberoffilesthatcanbetransferredatonetimeis999.Totransfer1000filesormore,transfer999filesfirstandthenclick[OK]whenthedialogboxwiththenumberofremainingfilesappears.Afterthat,clickthe[Save]buttonintheDL-10windoworreconnecttheUSBcabletotransfertheremainingfiles.

• DonotturnoffthecameraordisconnecttheUSBcableduringimagetransferusingDL-10(whenthemessageforreceivingdataisdisplayed).

• Theimagesonthecomputerarerenamedusingconsecutivefilenumbers;thefilenamesassignedbythecameraarenotused.

• Evenwhenthestoragefolderischanged,thefilenumberwillbecontinuous.Thenumbercannotbeinitialized.

• WhentransferringimagestoacomputerusingDL-10,thefilesareassignednameslike[RIMG****.jpg](****indicatesthenumberoftheimage),evenif[CardSequenceNo.]issetto[On].

Warning Messages Under Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2WhensoftwareforyourRicohdigitalcameraisusedonacomputerrunningWindowsVistaServicePack2oronacomputerwithWindowsXPServicePack3installed,awarningmessagesimilartotheoneshownbelowmayappearatsoftwareactivationorUSBconnection.Changethecomputersettingswhilereferringtotheinformationbelow.

When warning messages appear:Aftercheckingtheprogramnameandpublisher,click[Unblock].

Ifyoudonotrecognizetheprogram,youshouldblockitbecauseitmaybeavirus.Clickthe[KeepBlocking]buttontopreventtheprogramfromconnectingtotheInternet.

If you clicked the [Ask Me Later] button:Eachtimetheprogramisactivated,the[WindowsSecurityAlert]windowappears.Thenyoucanselect[Unblock].

If you clicked the [Keep Blocking] button:FollowthestepsbelowtochecktoseetheWindowsFirewallsettings.

1. Open the [Windows Firewall] Control Panel.

Openthe[Start]menuandselect[ControlPanel],thendouble-click[WindowsFirewall](ifWindowsFirewallisnotlisted,click[SwitchtoClassicView]atthetopleftcorneroftheControlPanelwindow).

2. Allow the Ricoh application Internet access.

Inthe[WindowsFirewall]dialog,clickthe[Exceptions]tabandcheckwhetherDL-10islistedunder[ProgramsandServices].Ifitis,placeacheckinthecheckboxnexttoDL-10andclickOK.Ifitisnotlisted,click[AddProgram…]toaddDL-10tothelistofexceptions.

Windows 7 Security WarningOncomputersrunningWindows7,youmayencounterthefollowingwarningwhenstartingRicohsoftwarefordigitalcameraseithermanuallyorbyconnectingacamera:

When warning messages appear:Aftercheckingtheprogramnameandpublisher,click[Allowaccess].

Disconnecting the Camera from Your ComputerBeforedisconnectingthecamerafromthecomputer,clickthe[SafelyRemoveHardware]or[UnplugorEjectHardware]iconinthetaskbar(theillustrationbelowshowstheiconforWindowsXP)andselect[SafelyremoveUSBMassStorageDevice]or[StopUSBMassStorageDevice]fromthemenuthatappears.YoucanthendisconnecttheUSBcable.

IftheremovehardwareiconisnotdisplayedinWindows7,clickthe buttoninthetaskbar.

• IftheUSBcableisdisconnectedwithoutdisablingtheconnection,theUnsafeRemovalofDevicescreenmaybedisplayed.

• DonotdisconnecttheUSBcableduringimagetransfer.CheckthatimagetransferiscompletedandbesuretostoptheconnectionbeforeremovingtheUSBcable.

Detailed Instructions for DL‑10Starting/Exiting DL‑10

StartingDL-10isalreadyinstalledwithDCSoftware.

Connectingthecameratoyourcomputerautomaticallystartsthesoftwareandbeginsdownloadingofimagesfromthecamera.

ExitingToexitDL-10,followeitherofthestepsbelow.

• Clickthe[MENU]buttonontheDL-10windowandselect[Exit]fromthedisplayedmenu(see“TheDL-10Window”).

• Right-clicktheDL-10icononthetaskbarandselect[Exit]fromthedisplayedmenu.

RestartingTorestartDL-10afterexiting,followthestepsbelow.

• Fromthe[Start]menu,select[AllPrograms]or[Programs]then[DCSoftware]then[DL-10].

DL-10isnotnetwork-compatible.Useasastand-aloneapplication.

Theapplicationregisteredin[Optionsettings]isstarted.

4 [Minimize] Button

MinimizesthewindowanddisplaysitsiconontheWindowstaskbar.Ifyouclickontheicon,thewindowwillbedisplayedagain.

� Indicator

The“Indicator”lightsifthecameraisconnectedviaUSBcable.Whenlit,ifyoumovethemousepointeroverthe“Indicator”,[Cameraisbeingconnected]appears.Whenyourcameraisnotconnected,the“Indicator”isgrayedout,andifyoumovethemousepointeroverit,[Cameraisbeingconnected]doesnotappear.

Ifyouconnectthecameraoracardreadertoacomputerandthendirectlydisplay,editorsaveSDmemorycardimagesonthecomputer,youmaynolongerbeabletoplaybacktheimagesonthecamera.Downloadtheimagestothecomputerbeforedisplaying,editingorsavingthem.

Thisisadeviceconnectedtoacomputertoreadthecontentsofcards.Inadditiontothememorycardadapter-type,therearecardreadersintowhichyoucandirectlyloadanSDmemorycard.

Connecting the Camera to a Com‑puter and Downloading Images

1. Make sure that the camera power is off.

2. Connect the accessory USB cable to a USB port of your computer.

3. Connect the USB cable to the USB terminal of your camera.

• WhenanSDmemorycardisloaded,itsfilesaredisplayed.Otherwise,filesintheinternalmemoryaredisplayed.

Disconnecting the Camera from Your Computer

1. Drag and drop the displayed drive or volume icon to the [Trash] icon.Whenascreenappearspromptingyoutoentertheadministrator'spassword,enterthepassword.

2. Unplug the USB cable.

• Youcanalsoselect[Eject]fromthe[Special]menuinMacOS9orthe[File]menuinMacOSXtocanceltheconnection.

TroubleshootingProblem 1 Cannot download images

Solution 1

YourcameramaynotberecognizedcorrectlyifyouconnecttotheUSBPortofyourcomputerviaaUSBhub.

FollowthestepsbelowtochangetheUSBport.

• ConnectyourcameradirectlytotheUSBportofyourcomputer.

• Ifthereareseveralroothubs,changetoanotherhub.

Ifyouareusinganon-USBhub,tryconnectingviaaUSBhub.

Thebatteryinthecameramayhavewornout.

Beforedownloadingimagesfromyourcamera,loadabatterywithadequateremainingpowerinthecamera.

Solution �

Thefreespaceontheharddiskinyourcomputermaybeinsufficient.

CheckwhethertheharddiskhassufficientspaceforrunningWindows,andwhetherthedrivewhereyouareloadingimagefileshasthesamecapacityormoreasthatoftheSDmemorycardinsertedinthecamera.

Problem � Even if you check [The same image will not be saved] in the DL-10 [Option settings], the same images are loaded into your computer.

Solution

Thecamera'sclockisincorrectlysetorthecamera'sclockinformationhasbeenreset.

Toallowthe[Thesameimagewillnotbesaved]functiontoworkproperly,thecamera'sclockinformationmustbesetproperly.Setitproperly.

Problem � Files loaded from the camera into the computer were deleted. You attempted to load the same files from the camera again but failed.

Solution

If[Thesameimagewillnotbesaved]ischeckedintheDL-10[Optionsettings],filesloadedintoyourcomputeroncecannotbeloadedagain.IntheDL-10[Optionsettings],uncheck[Thesameimagewillnotbesaved].

Problem 4 [Failed to save.] appears during image loading from the camera into your computer

Solution

Setthecameratoplaybackmodeandcheckthat[UnmatchedFile]isnotdisplayedforanyfile.If[UnmatchedFile]isdisplayed,deletethefilefromtheSDmemorycardorinternalmemoryafterbackingupallfilesonyourcomputer.Tobackupthefilesinthecamera,copyallfilesintoyourcomputerdirectlybyusingacommercially-availablecardreaderorbyconnectingthecameratothecomputerusingtheUSBcableprovided.
