Bachelor of Arts in SocialWork Satellite ProgramsSalisbury University’s Social WorkProgram offers Bachelor of Arts inSocial Work (B.A.S.W.) programs atfour convenient satellite locationsacross Maryland.

Courses in the satellite programsare “hybrid,” meaning they use thelatest technology to combineconventional face-to-face presentationswith fully interactive live video and on-line instruction from SU’s faculty.These innovative programs permitstudents to complete their B.A.S.W. intheir local communities.

The programs are designed withthe working student in mind byoffering evening and summer courses.The academic load is nine or morecredits per semester. Since some of theclass work is completed online, actualclassroom time is reduced.

The B.A.S.W. program is forstudents who have an associate’sdegree or 60 credits toward abachelor’s degree.

All of SU’s undergraduate and graduate social work programsare accredited by the Council ofSocial Work Education, a must forearning licensure.

LOCATIONS

Course of StudyThe B.A.S.W. program consists of 41credit hours. There are 33 credits ofclassroom work and eight credits ofsupervised field practicum. Additionalcourses are required to meet the 120credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Field PracticumStudents, in collaboration with amember of the Field EducationOffice, select field placements to meettheir professional goals. Students inthe undergraduate program completea two-semester field placement twodays a week beginning the fallsemester of their second year.

Current placements include avariety of settings such as communitymental health agencies, child welfareagencies, county health departments,and area schools. In some limitedsituations, students may make specialprovisions for a field placement withintheir current work setting.

Those working full time will needto plan for daytime release from theirjobs to participate in the fieldpracticum.
