Skype Meeting Broadcast Admin/user Guide V2
Microsoft has simplified and improved Skype Meeting broadcasting process, my
previous admin guide for how setup Skype Meeting Broadcast was focused on
how to setup your Office365 tenant for Skype Meeting Broadcast and on-prem
settings. However, setup is one time job but using Skype Meeting Broadcast is
continues job that’s why I am writing this Admin/User guide to give you tips and
tricks to improve usability and simplify your experience while using Skype
Meeting Broadcast.
If you have setup Skype meeting Broadcast and enabled federation with your
Skype for Business / Lync On-Prem or Skype for Business Online then this admin/
User guide help you to add new functionality to your Skype Meeting Broadcast
meeting invite, this Admin/User guide focusing on how to, like how to add Q&A to
Skype Meeting Broadcast, how to access Q&A as moderator, how to retrieve
existing meeting recording, how to join Skype Broadcast meeting effectively etc.

How to schedule Skype Meeting Broadcast meeting and generate calendar
invite?
First Login to https://broadcast.skype.com/ with your credential, login ID look
like, (bilag@mydomain.com and your password)
Note: make sure presenter/organizer has Skype for Business Online license
assigned. Skype for Business Online (Plan2) option available under plan E1, E2 and
E5.
Once you logged on to Skype Broadcast meeting page: Click on to New Meeting
option. Refer below screenshot.
Once you click on New Meeting, you will see Meeting settings page with multiple
option to customize you broadcast meeting.

• Anonymous: Anyone with the join link can attend, even if they are external
to your company. No sign-in required.
• Secure: Only those users who have been invited by the broadcast service
can attend. When you select this option, you'll get an Attendees field where
you can enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite. To
invite a group, enter the group alias, such as UCTeam@mydomain.com.
• All Company: Anyone from your company can attend by clicking the join
link. They'll use their company user name and password to attend.
Note: you can add group to invite list however you must type complete alias of
group. Added group for single broadcast.
Once you created Broadcast meeting and now time to customize.

Once you click on "Customize" you will see attendee page settings, under
Audience participation apps click on "Right panel app" to add Q and A.
Once you click on “Right panel app” under Audience participation apps, right
panel will show three options.
• Microsoft Pulse (track audience sentiment and take a poll).
• Q&A (attendees can participate in a moderated forum).
• Yammer (attendees can participate in a moderated forum).
Select Q&A, app which will allow to your attendee to participate in Q and A
session and as an event team member you can moderate the forum.

You will see Q&A app added to your audience participation apps and a moderated
Q&A session where people can choose to participate anonymously or not.
How to view Q&A app for moderation?
Go to Skype Meeting Broadcast page (https://broadcast.skype.com/) then, open
your scheduled Skype broadcast and click on “Open Q&A”.

Once you open Q&A, you will see below screen. As a moderator, you can answer
the questions.
How to add meeting content URL and content details to Skype Meeting
Broadcast?
Once you schedule Skype Meeting Broadcast> Attendee page settings section,
click Customize> and the Troubleshooting and support section> Select Write URL
under Custom link for attendees and then type link text.
Add your link text to display to users and Add your URL then click Done.

How to Join Skype Meeting Broadcast?
1. Join call as attendee: Open your Skype Meeting Invite in outlook or email
and then click on to “Join the meeting” > It will open browser to join j you
as attendee
2. Join Call as Event Team Member / Organizer: You must have sign-in address
and password pulse event team access to this event to join event as
organizer or event team member.

Joined as attendee: you don’t need credential to join as attendee, below
screenshot shows attendee view:
Above view as attendee but broadcast yet to start.
Joined as Presenter:
1. Once you click on “Join the Meeting” from invite. You will see get web page
to join meeting click on “Sign in as event team member”

2. Once you write your Sign-in address and password you will get ask to open
Skype for Business client, so say Yes.
3. Now Skype for Business client will open with Join meeting option once you
select to Use Skype for Business Audio and Video option, after that meeting
opens.
Note: You can start broadcast with Video/Audio or content only.
a. Click Video icon to Start Video.
b. Once Video Showed up, right click and activate video for broadcasting.
c. Now Start Broadcast option activates and click on to start broadcast.

You can add contact also using PPTX. Video added PPTX not supported.
d. Once you click on Start Broadcast, it will take while to start broadcast
and showed to attendee.

How to stop broadcast?
Remember, you cannot restart a broadcast, so do not stop broadcasting until you
finish talking.
Simply click on “Stop Broadcast” to stop the same.
How to Record and post a Skype Meeting Broadcast?
All Skype Meeting Broadcasts are recorded automatically so attendees and people
who missed the meeting can watch it later. It's also possible to create a
downloadable MP4 file of the meeting. This is a great option if you want to post
the video on your Office 365 video portal or some other video channel.

How to record a downloadable MP4 file?
Schedule the meeting by going to the Skype Meeting Broadcast portal
(https://broadcast.skype.com/).
For scheduling instructions, see Schedule a Skype Meeting Broadcast
(https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Schedule-a-Skype-Meeting-Broadcast-
c3995bc9-4d32-4f75-a004-3bc5c477e553).
At the bottom of the Meeting settings page, make sure Create a video recording
for download is selected (this is selected by default).
If you want the video to be available on demand, make sure Make video on
demand available after the meeting is selected (this is also selected by default,
and you can change the setting before after the meeting).
If you clear the Make video on demand available after the meeting check box,
users will only be able to watch the broadcast while it is still running. They can still
join late and see the entire broadcast. However, if users join after the broadcast
has ended, they will not be able to view the broadcast.
Note: After a Skype Meeting Broadcast has ended, it remains available for
download for 180 days. After that time, it will be removed from the service. We
recommend that you download any recordings well in advance of the 180 days.
How to Download the recorded meeting?
Go to the Skype Meeting Broadcast portal (https://broadcast.skype.com/).
Open the ended meeting section, select a meeting which you want to download
and then click Download video.

Post it to your Office 365 portal by following the steps in Create and manage a
channel in Office 365 video (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-and-
manage-a-channel-in-Office-365-video-1fede4cc-13c0-435a-b585-
e7fbf1c83bb2#bkmk_uploadingvideos).
How to Download the meeting report?
The meeting report includes Session IDs, participant names and email addresses,
browser information, date and time stamps, activities (join, play, pause), and
language.
Go to the Skype Meeting Broadcast portal (https://broadcast.skype.com/).
In the Ended section, select a meeting. Click Download meeting report.
When asked whether to open or save the report, click the preferred option. By
default, reports are saved to your Downloads file but you can specify any location.
Known issues:
Issue: You can't join a Skype Meeting Broadcast as an "Event team" member by
using Skype for Business on Mac.
Problem Statement:
You try to join a Skype Meeting Broadcast as an Event team member.
You have Skype for Business on Mac or Lync for Mac 2011 installed.

In this situation, the Skype for Business on Mac or Lync for Mac 2011 client does
not open successfully, when you click on Join Skype Meeting Broadcast URL.
Resolution:
When you have Skype for Business on Mac installed and unable to join Skype
Meeting Broadcast.
1. First refresh Skype Broadcast Meeting web browser. When you do this, the
Skype for Business on Mac client should join the meeting.
OR, another member of the Event team can click Invite More People in the Skype
for Business meeting, and then select the Skype for Business on Mac user in
question.
Note: The Broadcast controls aren't available to Skype for Business on Mac users.
Skype Meeting Broadcast controls are available only in the following Windows
clients:
• Skype for Business 2015 (build 15.0.4747 and later)
• Skype for Business 2016 (build 16.0.4227 and later)
When you have Lync for Mac 2011.
Lync for Mac 2011 is not supported for Skype Meeting Broadcast. Clients that use
this version of Lync are not able to join as an event team member.
Known issue: Using an embedded video in a PowerPoint presentation is currently
not supported in Skype Meeting Broadcast.
Error: Event team member can’t be added. Please check the email address or
alias.
In case you added user email address as Organizer member who don’t have Office
365 (E1, E2 or E3) license assigned with Skype for Business Online option then you
will see error message as “Event team member can’t be added. Please check the
email address or alias.” Refer the below image for more information.

Best practice for Audio and Video:
For Audio:
1. Use a wired connection for better voice quality.
2. Use IT supplied headset or audio device.
3. If another participant can't hear you, make sure your microphone is not
muted, Skype for Business client mute peoples who joins conference call to
reduce the background noise.
3. Unmute your Microphone only when you are active presenters unless keep
muted to reduce background noise.
4. check and reconnect your audio device.
For Video:
1. Make sure your camera is plugged in correctly. you can try to reconnect
your web camera in case not built-in camera (go to Tools > Video Device
settings).
2. if you are not seeing video than ask other party stop and restarted video.
3. Sometime Video camera drivers get corrupted, simply uninstall drivers and
reinstall again.

4. If Video shows blur and freezes then check your network connection and
use wired instead wireless.
Note: If Skype for Business detects a weak connection, it'll reduce the quality to
try and stop the call from dropping altogether.
