Previous Research/ literature
n The increasing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in career-related activities is placing new demands on career practitioners and on the organizations (Bimrose & Barnes, 2010; Sampson, Osborn, Dikel, & Sampson, 2011)
n Social media is fast becoming as much a necessity as an opportunity and competency to work in this new mode is an area of increasing importance.

Previous Research/ literature
n Successful integration ICT in career services is not only dependent on the skills or technical facilities available, but also on practitioners' willingness to accept the changes that new technology may bring to service delivery (Kettunen, Vuorinen, Sampson, 2013).
n In order to consider the usefulness and potential of existing and emerging technologies, it is essential that career practitioners be appropriately trained in this area (e.g. Bimrose, Hughes, & Barnes, 2011; Osborn, Dikel, & Sampson, 2011; Niles & Harris-Bowlsbey 2013)

Skills and competences of practitioners
UNIVERSITY OF JYVÄSKYLÄ
n One central prerequisite for versatile and functional utilisation of ICT is a good understanding of how different career-related questions become relevant at different stages of an individual’s life and how technology may be best used in different guidance and counselling approaches.
n If the goal is to facilitate career practitioners’ professional understanding of the opportunities provided by new technologies, it is important to assess and develop practitioners’ beliefs about technology and career services as a whole as well as hone their practical skills regarding these technologies.
