Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS)
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a high quality metro like transit service that utilizes exclusive right-of-way
bus lanes.
BRTS
The main characteristics of BRT system include: Segregated Bus ways Rapid Boarding & Alighting Clean, Secure & comfortable Stations and terminals Efficient pre board fare collection. Effective licensing & regulatory regime for bus operators. Clear and prominent signage and real-time information displays. Transit prioritization at intersections Modal integration at stations and terminals Clean fuel bus technologies. Sophisticated marketing identity. Excellence in customer service
BRTS - Characteristics
JICA traffic demand forecast study of year 2008 evaluated 8 rapidmass transit alignments (3 BRT lines and 5 RRT Corridors).
BRTS and RRTS
BRT Line – 1 BRT Line 1 covers a distance of 25 km from Surjani Town to Cantonment Station. Along its main alignment an extension of this line (or through feeder bus or tramservices) which would connect City Station to Cantonment Station via highly travelled I. I.
