Introduction to content curation

Alberto Nantiat

ENZO B

Content curation

• identify, organise, and share the best and most

relevant content on a specific topic or issue online

• information overload content curation

• not a replacement of your content

2

Curation is not republishing

• Curation makes sense only if it provides a really good quality filter that can replace the need to consult different sources.

• The key element is the expertise and focus of the curator, and the topic that he has selected.

• Curation is an effective means to build a strong relationship with a tribe of passionate niche users to be involved

4

A good content curator…

• … always keeps in mind the audience and focus of his/her channel

• … re-thinks and modifies titles, descriptions, ecc.

• ... formats and personalises his/her contents

• … highlights text to help the reader

• … add an introduction and metadata to the content

• ... verifies the sources and always gives credit

• … shares, discusses, suggests, entrusts

5

Strategy for content curation

• First question is: does curation fit well in your communication plan?

• A few factors worth considering:

• Some choices to make

13

Goals Audience Time

Type of curation Tool(s) Topic (focus)

Before starting be sure to…

• Identify your audience

• Focus your content sharing

• Curate content that is of impeccable quality

• Curate consistently

• Brand yourself, not your company

14

How to pick the right tool

Things to consider:

The Inputs (data source the tool can access)

The Organization (how the tool let me organise the

content)

The Venue (how and where the content is shared)

Have you decided? Have a try at similar tools too!
