Rand Study in December of 2008 found that families experience emotional cycles that mirror the deployment cycles.
A. Pre-Deployment• Heightened anticipation of loss• Denial that Service Member is leaving
B. Deployment• “Shock and awe” phase when Service Member departs
• Adjustment to life without Service Member
