Spirit Filled Thanksgiving

Ephesians 5:15-20

Introduction

What can we expect to happen if we are filled with

the Spirit? And How do we get filled

with the Spirit?

[15] Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. [17] Therefore do not

be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

[18] And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

[19] addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual

songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your

heart, [20] giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, [21] submitting to

one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:15-21 ESV)

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO HAPPEN IF WE ARE FILLED

WITH THE SPIRIT?

So being filled with the Spirit means being controlled by

the Spirit so that you feel and act in certain ways

MAKING MELODY; THANKSGIVING;

SUBMITTING TO ONE ANOTHER

SINGING and Making melody in your heart TO THE LORD

liberating fruit of trusting in the sovereignty of a gracious

and wise God

SUBMITTING TO ONE ANOTHER

We won’t be subject to one another in our marriages,

families and work unless we have great joy in God.

HOW DO WE GET FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT?

The primary way to drink in the Spirit is to read, meditate

on, and believe the breathings of the Spirit

recorded in the Scripture.

Being careful how we walk means to be careful to see to it that we are filled or controlled by the Holy

Spirit.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with

all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your

hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or

deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to

God the Father through him.

HOW ARE WE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

BY LETTING THE WORD OF CHRIST DWELL IN US

RICHLY AND BY APPROPRIATING BY FAITH HIS POWER IN OUR LIVES.
