Ser – D.O.T.
The place a person is from their ORIGIN. The origin of someone or something is not going to change, so we use ser.

Tener – to have
Tener can be used to talk about things that people have- for example: Yo tengo cinco hermanos.

For example: We use TENER to talk about age.Tengo quince años. Literally- I have fifteen
years. Better translation- I’m fifteen years old.
