On August 25, 2015 a group ofaerospace engineeringgraduate students of theAerospace Design Laboratory(ASDL) of the Georgia TechSchool of AerospaceEngineering visited the WarnerRobins Air Logistics Complex tosee firsthand how engineering isapplied to real life challenges of
the Air Force's fleet of Aircraft. The Center of Innovation forAerospace helped coordinate the tour details as part of itsmission to connect aerospace resources in the state.
COIA Assists Atlanta Watershed ManagementDepartment
The Atlanta Watershed Management Department has hundredsof square miles of territory, thousands of miles of pipes and 9large water treatment facilities that have a range of inspectionand sampling requirements. The department was seekingassistance in determining the feasibility of Unmanned AircraftSystems (UAS) for a range of tasks.
COIA through Gary O'Neill, provided the department access tothe UAS working group and the GTRI Professional Masters inApplied Systems Engineering (PMASE) program.
International Aerial Robotics Competition
During the International Aerial Robotics Championship August1214, the Georgia Tech Campus was alive with aerial robots,also known as UAVs. The main competition took place onAugust 13, in the Zelnak Basketball Practice Facility, where 4teams tested their UAV and attempted to master Mission Seven.
There is a simultaneous competition based in in Asia, which willtake place in September of this year.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, on the Eastman Campus,which is east of Eastman on Georgia Highway 46, adjacent tothe Heart of Georgia Regional Airport. The show, featuringamazing aerobatic flying performances, is free and open to thepublic.
Scheduled to perform are Gary Ward, Greg Connell, Larry Kingand the Silver Wings Paratroopers. A "Kids Zone" and aviationrelated displays and demonstrations are also part of the airshow..

Weekend (AWW) Sept. 1213 in Atlanta, Ga., at DekalbPeachtree Airport (KPDK). Atlanta Warbird Weekend is open free to the public from 10a.m.to 4 p.m. each day to see the aircraft, meet veterans andpurchase rides in some of the vintage aircraft. Parking will beavailable for $10.This year's theme will be a "Gathering ofMustangs", a rare collection of P51 Mustangs along with aBritish RAF Spitfire, German FW190 and other famous WWIIaircraft are scheduled to participate at the 2nd Annual AtlantaWarbird Weekend. A special event, "Dinner with an Ace," willfeature World War II pilot Bud Anderson as guest speaker at 7p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at the 57th Fighter Group restaurant atDekalbPeachtree Airport." Tickets are $125 for this limitedseating event. "The 2014 dinner was sold out, and everyoneenjoyed the evening," said Jim Buckley, CAF Dixie Wing leader.
