Pastoral Care For The Homebound If you are sick, home-bound or in the hospital and would like to receive Holy Com-munion or a pastoral visit please call the Parish Office and one of the priests will come to visit you. If you are homebound and would like Holy Communion each week please call the Parish Office.
Please remember St. Joseph’s Parish in your will
Parish Office : Open Monday through Friday From 9:00am to 4:30pm
The mission of St. Joseph’s Church is to be a welcoming, caring, Christ-centered Catholic community. We desire to
experience and share God’s unconditional love. Inspired by the example of Jesus, we strive to lead all people to
wholeness and fullness of life.
The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated after a period of preparation of no less than six months. Those who wish to marry at St. Joseph’s are invited to contact one of the priests during regular weekday office hours before making any other arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated, on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30pm. Please call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment with one of the priests. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available at any time to any Catholic over the age of reason who is seriously ill, preparing for surgery or suffering the effects of age. The priests of the parish regularly celebrate the Eucharist and administer the sacrament of the sick at the area nursing homes; lay ministers lead services and bring communion to the residents every Sunday.

Thank your for your generosity.
From the Desk of Fr. Lagiovane
As we move into the fall months we continue to slowly and safely open up our Church. Lectors and Extraor-dinary Ministers have begun their ministries. Extraordinary Ministers to our Homebound have begun bringing Holy Communion to those unable to come to Mass. Our Altar Servers will begin to serve in October. Funer-als, Weddings and Baptisms have been celebrated these last several months. Our 1st Holy Communion chil-dren on the weekend of Sept. 13th received Our Lord for the first time. Our young Confirmation students will be receiving their Confirmation next week. Our RCIA Candidates received their sacraments the weekend of Sept. 13th. Eight adults received (two Baptisms, six First Holy Communions, and eight Confirmations, one brought into full communion with the Catholic Church). Religious Ed Classes will begin in October- All clas-ses will be online with a Catechist “Zoom” class held twice a month. I want to thank Pam Crozier, our Coordi-nator of our Religious Education Program along with Linda Maffia, our Religious Education Secretary and all of our dedicated catechists. Thank you for stepping up and learning our online teaching.
We continue to have Daily Mass held in the Church until further notice. We will eventually return to our Chapel but for now, we will remain in the Church. This is certainly an added expense with our monthly bills but one that I believe is necessary at this time. I cannot thank all of our parishioners who continue to support us financially each and every week.
The shut down for three months during the pandemic has resulted in less people attending Mass along with less money each week in our collections. Our weekly collections are vital in being able to meet our financial obligations each month. I know the sacrifices that you make to help us pay our bills. May God bless your generosity.
Collection boxes are at the entrances of the Church. You may put your weekly collections in these boxes be-fore or after Mass. You may also use our online giving- “We Share” https://stjosephsomers.churchgiving.com
Our Mega Raffle is our only major fundraiser each year. I thought it prudent to have our Raffle sometime in the spring. Stay tuned for the dates when tickets will be sold.
Please mark your calendars – May 1st – 5: OO PM MASS. Cardinal Timothy Dolan will celebrate our 175th Anniversary Mass. A reception will be held in the Parish Center immediately after the Mass.
Anyone who ordered our 175th Anniversary Book– you can pick up your book in the parish office during reg-ular business hours.
Several of our groups will begin meeting in our Meeting Room and Parish Center. All groups will practice and adhere to social distancing guidelines as well as the wearing of face coverings.
We are putting our finishing touches on some exciting adult spirituality programs for the Fall & Spring. Information and details will be forthcoming the last week of September.
We continue to see the numbers increase at Mass. As you safely come back to Church its good for our parish-ioners to see how many people on average attend our Masses: We are permitted a 50% capacity. Which is 400 people. 5PM-130, 8AM-140, 10AM-175/200, 12noon-175 and 6PM-80.
May God continue to bless you for your support of our parish
May God continue to bless our parish family as we move ahead. As St. John Paull II said so beautifully: “I plead with you. Never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, never become discouraged. Be not afraid.” Always in my prayers. God’s Blessings, Fr. Lagiovane

Consider Sharing Your Faith With the Children of the Parish
Pope Francis reminds us that children are the greatest blessing that God has given us. We have a
wonderful group of dedicated Catechists who take the time to teach our beautiful Catholic Faith to
the children of the Parish.
At this time I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider joining this dedicated group. Due to the
pandemic we have moved our Faith Formation program to an Online learning /Virtual program. Stu-
dents will complete lessons online with their parents and Catechists will meet virtually via ZOOM for
45 minutes every other week with a class.
We currently have openings for the following sessions:
Sunday 10:30am-11:15am session for 6th & 7th grades
Monday 4:30pm- 5:15pm session for 4th & 5th grades.
Tuesday 4:30pm- 5:15pm session for 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades
You don’t have to teach alone, you can team up with a friend or neighbor and co-teach a class. We
will be providing in person (distanced) ZOOM training for all Catechists at the end of September in
the Parish Center. Virtual class are scheduled to begin the week of October 18th.
Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss this rewarding ministry! Continued Blessings for
health and strength in these uncertain times.
