It’s a painstaking process that requires patience and the belief that every generation can be better than the last.
At Seminis, we’re constantly thinking of the next generation. Not just the next generation of seeds, but the next generation of growers and families all over the world.
Every day for 150 years, Seminis has worked to empower our growers by improving the vegetables they grow and providing solutions to their toughest challenges.
Today we are the world’s largest developer and marketer of vegetable seeds. But reaching this milestone hasn’t been an easy journey.
De Ruiter is Monsanto’s heated protected-culture vegetable brand. If you would like more information on De Ruiter varieties, please call 1800 364 846 or visit www.deruiterseeds.com
Successful farming requires a high degree of skill. The performance of seeds and crops are greatly impacted by numerous factors and conditions beyond the control of Monsanto, including, among other things, environmental conditions, such as sunlight, moisture, temperature, and soil composition; adverse weather conditions, such as drought, excessive rainfall, high wind; pests, diseases, and individual farming practices. The purchaser and/or user of this seed assumes all risks that these factors and conditions will adversely impact the performance of the seed and crop produced from the seed.Copyright © 2017 Monsanto New Zealand Limited All Rights Reserved. Codes to indicate available resistance in the Monsanto vegetable variety catalogue
Monsanto has exercised reasonable care and skill in compiling this catalogue. The varieties with disease resistance claims have been tested for specified disease resistance. All resistances quoted refer only to races or pathotypes of the variety. It is important to recognise that the response of resistant plants to pests or pathogens can vary according to host age and depend on environmental factors. New and/or atypical pest or pathogen biotypes, races, or strains may overcome resistance, sometimes completely. The descriptions, advice, resistance claims and vegetation cycles that are presented in this pricelist are intended for general guidance only. The user should apply it in accordance with knowledge and experience of local conditions. Monsanto follows International Seed Federation (ISF) recommendations concerning Resistance Codes. Monsanto cannot accept any liability in connection with this pricelist and does not guarantee any result or performance.
Disease resistance terminology
Resistance: is the ability of a plant variety to restrict the growth and development of a specified pest or pathogen and/or the damage they cause when compared to susceptible plant varieties under similar environmental conditions and pest or pathogen pressure. Resistant varieties may exhibit some disease symptoms or damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure. Two levels of resistance are defined.
High/standard resistance (HR): plant varieties that highly restrict the growth and development of the specified pest or pathogen under normal pest or pathogen pressure when compared to susceptible varieties. These plant varieties may, however, exhibit some symptoms or damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure.
Moderate/intermediate resistance (IR): plant varieties that restrict the growth and development of the specified pest or pathogen, but may exhibit a greater range of symptoms or damage compared to high/standard resistant varieties. Moderately/intermediately resistant plant varieties will still show less severe symptoms or damage than susceptible plant varieties when grown under similar environmental conditions and/or pest or pathogen pressure.
Tolerance: is the ability of a plant variety to endure abiotic stress without serious consequences for growth, appearance and yield. Monsanto makes NO claims of tolerance to diseases or disorders caused by pests. NOTE: All resistances are now referred to as High Resistant (HR) or Intermediate Resistant (IR). In this catalogue all resistances are HR unless specified.
