Self Portrait in Action

Norman Rockwell

Today you are going to draw a self portrait that reflects something you love to do. Think of something you really enjoy doing. This little boy enjoys playing football.

What does this girl enjoy doing?

Playing in the ocean?

What do you enjoy doing?

Baking cookies?

Painting?

Swimming?

Your self portrait will include more than just your face. You will be drawing your entire body! How is that done?

Think of your body as being made up of many different lines and shapes. What shapes do you see in these pictures?

What lines and shapes do you see here?

Everything is made up of lines and shapes.

Think again about what you like to do. Will you draw your picture…….

Looking down from above?

From behind?

From the side?

Or from the front?

This is Picasso’s self portrait. What does he enjoy doing?

Here is a self portrait of Matisse.

And a self portrait of Van Gogh.
